| After that we headed to the sleazy area of Bangkok, Patpong. I have to admit I wasnt really looking for to this, NOT! There was a night market, sex shows, table dancing, stinking food stalls that were cooking what looked like human intestines. We met an Irish couple from Wexford on their honeymoon. We went back to Delaney's for a pint and after that got a tuk-tuk back to Hotel. The driver was a little on the fast side. Sun 26.05 - Up for breakfast then back to bed. Went to Chinese Restaurant in hotel for lunch. We were looking forward to a curry but alas no. Walking into the restaurant the receptionist said what sound like Simpson. I thought weird how did she know my name! It was only when we got to the table and they started bring us all these different seafood dishes, that we realised it was Dim Sung the receptionist had said!! I managed the chopsticks alright. Believe it or not I used to practise when I was young with knitting needles!! Relaxed by pool for the after noon and then went to the Calypso Cabaret, as recommended by my friend, Aiden O'Kane. It was all dancing, singing and flashy costumes. It was absolute shite. The singers were miming and miming BADLY. At 14 pound a go I would expect some people who could actually sing live. Enjoyed out free drink at the bar and the retired for night. Mon 27.05 - Packed in the morning and then went to the Tokyu Shopping centre. We did a little food shopping for bus trip. Went to MKG centre also. Its massive, with 7 floors with about 50/60 shops on each floor. McDonalds for lunch, 170 bahts, really really cheap, 3 pound for both of us. Back to hotel and checked out. The minibus turned up to collect us at 5.30pm. Looked rather dodgy. He left us and 10 other people standing in the middle of a round about for an hour, until the coach turned up. It was airconditioned but cramped and was our home for the next 15 or so hours. It left Bangkok at 7pm |
| Sat 25.05 (contined) The tuk tuk driver then took us to a diamond shop. He gets petrol vouchers from the shop owner if they bring tourists there. We had a look around for 15 minutes and nearly got engaged!! We then went to the reclining buddha. (See left) Its massive too. Easily 40 metres long. We went back to hotel for a while and then it was off to Delaneys for dinner. The taxi driver took us to his friend who is a travel agent to book our bus to Phuket. (700bahts, 14 pounds). Delaney's was fill of Aussies out on the piss for Friday evening. We ordered dinner. Claire got Shepherds pie and I got, .. wait for it, Clonmacnoise Roast Chicken!! |
