WEB PAGE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Poetry, Stories, Essays
Cover letters would be nice but are not required. They do however, help us to get to know our poets a little better.
Poetry should be emailed to us, preferably one poem per email. It just makes sorting them all out easier for me.
Stories, Articles and Essays should be emailed to us one per each email. Try to keep the page count down to one or two pages. Remember I have to retype all this up onto a web page, until I learn how to do it other ways. So it does take my time. I am working to learn how to ease this process.
There are no fees any longer for the web page, and we can do up to six (6) poems per page. Now keep in mind we will be changing these every 3 months, so I think 3 – 6 poems are plenty for one issue.
As always try to keep in the season theme, other subject matter will be considered but we prefer seasonal poetry.
Subject Counts!!!
As for subject matter....we will not accept any submissions offering blatantly sexual content, or anything we consider to be foul language or in poor taste!!!
We love poems regarding the season or the changing of the season or any holiday that falls within that season. We also love poetry about the poets writing life, about children or animals. Other subjects are also always welcome, however we do limit the amount of certain subjects we will print.
We do from time to time accept religious and political poetry, however; please understand that we are not a religious or political publication. So we try to steer away from the discussion of religion or politics. Also know that when we accept religious poetry, we accept it from all religions. So please try to keep an open mind.
All submissions must be in English. There is no exception to this rule. Submissions in other languages will be sent back to you.
We do not correct typos or spelling errors unless we are the ones who make them. So please be sure to check your work carefully for errors. If you find an error on the page after its up contact us and we will attempt to correct it. This may require taking down the entire page and reworking it. So it could be several days before your page is up again. We ask your patience in this matter.
About Us
SimplyWords started with the Fall Issue in 1991. We started with no more than an Smith Corona word processor, three (3) subscribers and an idea. All our work was done in hard copy.
With the computer age strongly upon us, I decided to use this wonderful medium to offer our readers and writers alike a new way to showcase their work. The resulting web site is it. I am new to this web mastering stuff, but I am learning so please be patient with me. Our online poetry group can be found in Yahoo groups under SimplyWords Online
Hope to see your work soon. Ruth Niehaus, Editor
