I Wept

Hear my prayer my Lord
On this day I wept for the
Many mothers and fathers
Who said good-bye to their
Sons and daughters as
They take their stand to
Defend our country.
I wept this day as
Soldiers leave behind
Their own loved ones
As tears trickle down
The cheeks of children
Small tiny hands waving
Good-bye until out of sight.
Hear my prayer my Lord
That you send an angel
To sit upon each soldier�s
Shoulders that vowed
To protect this land
Prepared for war
They travel afar.
I wept today my Lord
As I light this candle
A flame for our troops
Not to be forgotten
The many who will
Perish so I may be safe
From our hidden enemies.
Hear my prayer my Lord
For all the days and nights
I pray for our soldiers
To keep them safe as you
Watch over and guard them
Be their shield of amour for
A safe return back home.
