Bring not the past to my present
For the pain is long ago but felt
As fresh as this new day begins
My mind flooded with haunting dreams
Of what might have been
I can only ask when you will
No longer be just a shadow in my mind
As my heart pleads for the memories
To fade away and leave me unscarred.
O� but how can one move on when
The heart lingers in those memories
With hope of a lost love returning
Once more from whence it was taken
Leaving an emptiness where
Nothing or anyone can fill this
Haunting heart to no point where
Rest cannot be as the mind is locked
Reminiscing in days of yesterday.
But here I stand on the sandy shore
With the hazy moonlight behind me
Waves crashing in around me
Numbed from the coldness
Stepping out into the darkness
Washing away your memories
Unleashing my heart so that I
Can once more return to the
Solitude with contentment in the world.
