POEMS: Life

Life, so far, has been a fight,
a struggle between the flesh and the spirit.
It is true that you cant do all your spirit wills.
But you can at least try ... try, try.
There is never harm in trying to be in better
standing with God.
All we have to do is to make that first move
and ask Gods grace for sustaining power,
that come what may, we will neither stumble nor fall.
Life is a Fight!

Christ wishes, for every loving soul,
peace of mind and heart and that nothing
should ever distort this vision of his for us.
I seem to be working in one direction:
channelling my energies towards a means rather than a goal.
In all I do I should seek to strike a balance,
for the vision of the lover and his Beloved
is to be a mutuality: a situation where he gives
and I return his love
with all that is in my capacity to love.
As we exchange glances,
I relish the sweetness your goodness holds.
Every time I blink, I realise my unworthiness to
even gaze on him,
mine is a loving gaze that is easily distracted,
His is one that neither tires nor grows weary.
Mine is an embrace for safety, his is one of reassurance.
Mine is an imperfect love, his is an all-embracing caress
that sets the soul free: Be still and know that I am God.

In his passion, Christ re-plants the tree of life,
once uprooted by pride and rebellion.
He uproots the tree of death
whose seed and fruit are sin and death.
He becomes the fruit for the life of the world.
How mysterious, the mystery of the cross!

 Exaltation of the Cross, 2006.

Silence holds the keys that unlocks mysteries!
