Zane walked around Sams block for the fifth time. He wanted her to be the one who apologized. But here he was on a Monday morning waiting for Sam to come to the front, which is what he did every morning. Sam walked out gloomily. She smiled when she saw him out there. She tried to hug him but he puled back. Lets go. Well be late for school, said Zane dryly. Are you okay, asked Sam. Okay? You think Im okay? Ofcourse Im not, shouted Zane. He quieted down as people stared at him on the street. Sorry, I wasnt thinking, said Sam. Wouldnt be the first time, said Zane coldly. Look, I didnt mean to hurt you, said Sam. No, youre doing what you always do, said Zane. By this time Sam was pissed too. And what would that be, asked Sam. I hate to be the one to tell you this but everything isnt all about you, shouted Zane. They were now in front of the school yelling at eachother. They were completely unaware that a crowd was gathered listening to their conversation. I dont think the world revolves around me! I am not attracted to you! I am so sorry that doesnt work for you, said Sam sarcastically. Then why do you always flirt with me? Why did you kiss me, asked Zane. Because I felt like it!!!!!!! When the bell rang two angry high school students went to their classes

Okay, you can help Sam clean the dishes in the back, said Hazel. Zane sighed. I,m not helping Sam with jack, said Zane. What happened, asked Hazel. Nothing. What makes you think anything would have happened, said Zane. Hazel gave him a skeptical look. Hmm, let me think! Well one sign would be usually I would have barely said the words and you would be out the door. Mom, I dont want to discuss it. Sam is being itchy right now! She needs to learn it isnt all about her. She just needs to get over herself! With that Zane banged his hand on the table. His mother took a seat next to him. Does that make you love her more or less, or do you still love her the same, asked Hazel. Zane shot her a confused glance. No more and no less, he finally said. Go talk to her and work things out, said Hazel.

Sam heard him walk in. Her heart beat sped up. Sam, uh, I really dont know what to say, said Zane. Then dont say anything. We cant ever be together, cried Sam. Why not, asked Zane enraged. Because- we cant it wouldnt work, said Sam. Sam saw the pain in his eyes. Im sorry, Zane, she said. Yeah me too, said Zane. Zane turned to leave. He quickly turned around to face her. Is this how its going to be forever? Are you just going to avoid this forever, asked Zane. Sam looked him straight in the eye. There is nothing to avoid! Zane rolled his eyes. I dont know why I tried! I dont even know you anymore! Who the hell are you, asked Zane. I am the girl youve always known, replied Sam. That is such a lie! So is everything else about you lately, said Zane. He took off in anger.

Well you finally decided to come to work, said Zane coldly. Dont do this, said Sam coldly. Do what, asked Zane. Now Sam was furious. What the hell do you wan from me! What the hell are you trying to prove by this, asked Sam. I know you like me! I feel it and I see it! You can deny these feelings as long as you want but they are still going to be there, said Zane. They arent there Zane! I dont feel anything for you, said Sam. Im going to change that, said Zane. What? Before she could object his hands were all around her kissing the breath of her. She didnt want him to stop. Zane pulled away with a satisfied smile. He dragged Sam outside. When you figure out what you want come see me, said Zane. He walked back into the restaurant. Sam walked home in a daze.

Life went back to semi normal. Zane and Sam never fought anymore. In fact they hardly spoke. No, they never spoke. It took care of some problems. Zane found himself staing at her again. It wasnt one of those things he couldnt controle. Well that was pretty evident. Sam felt lifeless without his jokes. She missed Zane. She sat in the restaurant waiting for her cup of chocolate. Zane took a seat across from her. Sam layed her head on the table and closed her eyes. I hate this Zane, she whispered. Me too, he said. He slid her the coffee. I thought staying away would fix everything, said Zane. it made thins worse, they said at the same time. It made it worse, said Sam. She slowly brought her head up and leaned against the back of her chair. I know. I dont think I have ever been so lonely in my life, he said. Look I like you a lot but I am not ready to be anything more than a friend to you. Im sorry. I hope you can except that. If you cant then you cant, said Sam. Zane nodded his head. I dont think I really have a choice, said Zane.
