Summary: Grissom receives a call from Catherine begging for his help...will he get there in time to save her?

Trapped
a drabble by Lora

Grissom raced through the traffic, cursing the other drivers for getting in his way. He replayed the phone call he’d received from Catherine over in his head.

“Grissom.”

“Gris it’s Catherine…you’ve got to come…I need you…Please, he‘s got me trapped, I can‘t get out of the bathroom…”

The line had gone dead, but not before he heard her scream.

He weaved through the cars, ignoring the blaring horns.

Five minutes later he was at her front door, gun in hand. He checked each room but found no intruder, quietly he reached the bathroom.

He could hear Catherine breathing heavily.

Gun held steadily in front of him he stepped into the doorway and stopped. Catherine was alone.

He followed the direction of her eyes and bit on his lip to stop laughing.

“So this is your assailant?”

He was both thoroughly amused and also relieved that there was no real threat. He tucked his gun back into his belt.

She looked embarrassed but still utterly terrified as she stood pressed against the shower cubicle, her robe pulled tightly across her body.

He noticed her cell phone lying pitifully at the bottom of the half filled bath tub, submerged in water.

“So that explains the way you suddenly cut out. Do you have a jar?”

“Second cupboard on the left.”

He shook his head in amusement and headed for the kitchen.

“Grissom! Quick! He’s moving!”

He returned to the bathroom and trapped the spider in the jar. Putting the lid on he turned the glass around in his hands, gazing dreamily at the spider.

“Better?” he tucked the jar in his pocket, trying to be sympathetic but the laughter creases at the corner of his mouth gave him away.

“Very funny Gris. Thank you. I thought I was stuck in here with him for good.” she shuddered. “Damn I hate spiders.”

“I noticed, and he’s a she.”

“Who knows that kind of stuff from just looking?” She gave him a look which meant he was weird. “You really need to get out more Gris, there are more things to life than creepy crawlies.” she said affectionately but with a hint of humour.

“I know.” he said. “I could always put this back where I found it if you want to continue mocking me.”

She shook her head fiercely and smiled. “Thanks Gil.”

“Anytime Cath, just warn me who I’m up against next time and I’ll bring my own jar.” He winked and walked out of the house.
