I feel like screaming, throwing things, punching something…or someone. My body is shaking with repressed anger, anger that should be directed at people like him. Instead I have to store it inside.

I need to relax, to wind down before I have to face the others. I won’t allow them to see me like this, I need to pretend like I’m fine.
My body starts to sway to the music inside my head, my hands trace invisible pictures above me as I remember the moves. I close my eyes and I see the entranced faces of men, the bright lights, the stage beneath my stilettos.
I gyrate my hips and allow my hands to caress my body, feeling the rhythm as I dance. I become part of the music playing in my mind as I turn and bend freely to each beat.
My mind is clear and a sense of tranquillity washes over me, dancing is my haven.
“Don’t stop.”
I turn quickly and find Sara leaning against the doorframe.
My face flushes instantly and I can’t find the words to explain myself.
“I’ve seen you dance a few times Catherine… I’m curious to know what triggers it off.”
“It helps me relax.” I can’t look her in the eye. I wonder how many times she’s watched me. I’m embarrassed but at the same time the idea of being watched by Sara Sidle excites me.
“Does it really work?” She steps towards me and my body is on fire.
I nod and she smiles. “Maybe you could teach me, and I could show you some other ways to let go…”
Her face is inches from mine, her dark eyes searching my face for a reaction.
“Is that a promise?” I whisper, leaning towards her.
Our lips meet and I know that I‘ve found something better than dancing.
