I am going to use this space to try and answer some of the common questions I get about the guild on a regular basis.
1) How do I raise my rank?
The ranks are currently as follows, in order from least to greatest: vampire (unactive members), demon (members that used to be active, but are no longer), potential slayer (members that are active), subcouncil (members that are highly active and established in the guild), and council (members that I trust with guild admin powers and that have been active members in the guild for a long time). Currently, the subcouncil and council are full, so the highest attainable rank right now is that of potential slayer. To be raised from a lower rank to that of potential slayer, you need to simply be active. Post on the message board, answer the quiz, answer the various trivia competitions. It is not hard to have your rank raised if you simply try as hard as you can to be active.
2) My rank moved down! Why?
If your rank is moved down from potential slayer or higher to that of a demon, it is because you were no longer being active. You haven't posted in a while, or you haven't been answering quizzes. But don't be concerned! If you correct that, you can easily be moved up again. And also, remember, ranks are not very important. There are many more important things in life. Do not stress about them.
3) How do I do the weekly episode quiz? What are the deadlines?
The episode of the week quiz comes out every Wednesday. It is posted on the guild message board and on the main page of this website. To answer, simply neomail or email answers to me. The deadline is that Saturday at midnight neopian standard time. Results are announced on Sunday. No quiz answers are accepted past the deadline.
4) What are the trivia, lyric, and image? Where do I find them? What is the deadline?
The trivia, lyric, and image are three contests for the guild. The trivia is simply a difficult trivia question about Buffy. The lyric pertains to the Buffy musical episode Once More With Feeling and quizzes your knowledge of what line comes next. The trivia and lyric are found on the main guild page here. The image contest is a contest which shows you a screencap from a Buffy episode and you must identify the episode it is from by name. The image contest can be found on the main page of this website.
There is no official deadline for these three competitions. The first TWO people to answer each correctly receive a prize. After two correct answers are received, that round is closed. Notification of this will be posted on the guild message board and in the spot where the contest is posted.
5)How do I submit graphics to be posted on this website?
Graphic donations are always welcome: blogs, shop backgrounds, userlookups, cursors, anything. To donate a graphic you can email them to myself or kittybeenbad, and they will be posted as soon as possible with your name credited. Some basic guidelines for submitting graphics:
-it should say Simply Buffy Guild. The whole point of guild graphics is for easy advertising as well as member convenience.
-it must be appropriate by all neopets rules. You don't want anyone who uses it to get in trouble.
-remember that all guild graphics found on this website are for members of Simply Buffy ONLY. Any thieves will be placed on our Wall of Shame indefinitely.
6) How do you get images on your layout? Where do you get them from?
All Simply Buffy layouts are custom made my guild members. To make a layout, you use a program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and then use html codes to code it.
Buffy images can be found at a variety of sources. Buffy World is a great source of screencaps for every episode of Buffy and Angel. Also, I recommend a google or yahoo image search if you have a specific image you are looking for.
7) How do you make a guild?
This is a question I receive a lot via neomail from people outside the guild. Before making a guild, there are several things you need to consider.
a- do you have the time and dedication to create, advertise, and maintain your guild
b- do you have any knowledge of html? Basic html knowledge is needed to run ANY guild, no matter how simple. If you do not know html, I recommend clicking here to learn basic codes, or searching neopets for someone who does know html to be a coowner in your guild (that is what I did. Thanks Vanessa ;-))
After you have completed these two steps, you simply navigate to the guilds page of neopets and create your guild. You will need to enter a name and a description, and a layout and some info of promised activites is always good too. You can find premade layouts throughout the web if you do not have a way of making a custom one.
Then you need to get the word out. Contact your neofriends that share the same interest the guild is about. Post on the neoboards. Take out a noticeboard ad (be careful with this, you cannot say the word 'contest' in it, make sure you read the rules first so you do not lose your neopoints).
The key to having a successful guild is making it unique. When I began this guild, I knew that there are many Buffy guilds on neopets. The way I made mine one of the most successful was by dedicating lots of time to advertising and instating unique activites to catch the eye of guild members. Key word UNIQUE. Don't copy other guilds. That is NOT attractive.
Good luck!
More will be added if necessary. Don't forget to also familiarize yourself with our Guild Rules.
