On February 4th, 2005, Simply Buffy celebrated it's second birthday. It featured the debut of the games and some long speeches by Erin and member of the year Kitty, which I wanted to preserve here.
Guild Story and Member of the Year
-sigh- Well, two years ago today I created this guild. At the time, I had some experience with neopets, about 7 or 8 months. I had been council in a guild...a SPONGEBOB guild. So I knew a little about guilds. Then that guild tanked. So, I decided to pursue my dream of creating my own Buffy guild. I went to the little create guild page and filled it out...originally I wanted to name it something else, I honestly forget what, but it was taken, so I thought up Simply Buffy pretty much right away. Then I got to the part where you actually add like a layout and content...and realized that I had no idea what I was doing. So I neomailed the one Buffy fan neofriend I had. Some of you probably remember Vanessa, raindrop_waterfalls. She agreed to help me, took the second council spot, and made our first layout. (Remember that I knew extremely limited html at this time.) And the second, third, fourth...she helped me a lot. And I admit that the guild was very slow in getting started. Our council seemed like a revolving door, only like less than ten members...for a while things were so slow that there was little activity. But then I decided to try again, and I started advertising, etc. Then alysonhannigan joined. One of the first things I did when advertising was type in the actors names and look for people, lol. And it turns out many others do the same, because many many people found this guild through her. That was around September 2003. That October, Episode of the Week quizzes were born. By this point the number of members was growing very quickly, and we had around 30. The quizzes became what I still consider our little trademark.
For the first birthday one year ago today, we had between 40 and 50 members. And get this: I said that my goal for the second birthday was to have 75. -laughs and points at number of members- We have almost doubled that goal.
Right now I am truly amazed at how far this guild has come. For one of the first times we have a stable, steady, active council that I trust completely. Tara has been there for a while, and I know that her activeness and easily findable user name helped this guild beyond belief, so thank you to her. Then we have Fred and Amanda, who have become established, active members in this guild. And outside the council, we also have many wonderful members who continue to make this guild a fun, active place every day! I could never thank you guys enough. Not only is this guild a fun, great experience but I have also met many very good friends through it. Kitty's "Acceptance Speech" Okay first off a big thank you to Erin, yanno without her there wouldn't even be a Simply Buffy to celebrate. She's always going all out for this guild and it's members so a big pat on the back! And thanks to everyone, cause it would be boring without ya'll!! Now for my little history with the guild: I have been bopping around neopets since the second year it even came out, I think I was like in 8th or 9th grade. I was bored and looking up something for class, anway I made an account and lost interest, cut to about two or so years later and I came back to it, again bored. Made an account and lost interest again. Then I came back to it and made a little Buffy/Angel/Charmed guild, called 'Of Stakes and Spells'. I didn't know that much html so needless to say it did not look good. but, I managed to get about twenty members. It just happens I discovered the rp boards and someone was having a Buffy rp ((It was Tara, Erin, PW, and some others though I didn't know who they were)). Naturally I joined in, I was doing my Buffy charrie and some random girl (Erin) sent me a guild invite. I was like 'whatever', and ignored it (sorry Erin ), though I did give a 'no thanks', lol not that mean yanno . Then on my birthday, 19th I think, I was sick at home with only my laptop as company, I get really sick around winter so I've had like 8 bds ruined. Anyway, I left my guild on my other account and was looking for a new one. Then I rembered the girl who had sent me the invite. I looked the guild up and was very impressed. I joined and decided to become active. I still had my OSAS guild, but to be honest I was a little disatisfied with it. There were more members I had managed to convince to join, about 40 now, but NO ONE posted. I'm not even kidding, oh there were a few, but mostly it was me talking to myself. I was soon spending more time with Simply Buffy then my own guild, because it was just so much more fun and the people were way more dedicated. Anyway, I soon got myself frozen, still not sure why.... Well, I then devoted all my time to SB (I had a lot of time on my hands, college, clubbing, and that's it), and I've grown to love it. I mean, ya'll people are the most dedicated fans I've ever met and some of the nicest people around. Everyone's active, the discussions are always interesting, and this is going to sound corny as hell, but it's almost like an online family, but in my case minus the dsyfunction. I love you guys and couldn't ask to be in a better guild, mostly cause there isn't one, lol. This one rocks and rocks hard!
Okay that was a long rant, sorry, but I just wanna last say 'Here's To next year' Now let's pop open the bottle Bubblies all around!
