Back
Here I have the pics of the isuzu going from well used to fairly nice looking all in the course of a weekend and about $20. Sorry about the page size. I know it is huge, but this has been giving me more problems when it comes to uploading pictures
Here's my dad working on filling in the rust holes with Bondo. The rust was first ground with an abrasive wheel attached to a drill The spots were then filled and sanded smooth.
Here I a am priming. After the Bondo was sanded smooth, I primed the surface with primer from Wal-Mart that I bought for about $1.99. I used about a can and a half of this.
As you can see, everything was taped off before any primer or color was added. I used masking tape and newspaper.
Here I am applying one of the last coats of paint. The paint came from Wal-Mart too. I had a marching band banquet that night and I swear the fumes made me say some crazy things.
This is the completed product, with a few pieces of tape and paper still there. The total cost was around $20. It looked alright until I drove it in the salt, and then the rust reappered. But oh well, It was fun anyways.
The Isuzu's Last days
Isuzu made a very well engineered pickup truck. Mechanically, I  belive they were better than any  one of the big three. The mainproblem with this truck was the low quality steel that was used on it. After this vehicle was repainted (about 4 months) it failed inspection for having a rotted out frame. I fixed this, but when the repair started to go bad, I said the hell with it and put the truck up for sale. If you are at all interested in Isuzu trucks, I advise you visit the
Isuzu P'up Message board.
