The program was started 2 years ago with the initial cost being and additional $1.80 per 100 KWhours over the standard electric rates. The cost has significantly decreased and is only an additional 9 cents per 100 KWhours over the standard rate! For example, a family of 4 living in a 4 bedroom home may consume 1000 KWhours in the non-summer months. This household would pay an addition 90 cents per month (plus applicable taxes) to have wind power. This may not have been noticeable until the hot summer months. You may want to think about improving the energy efficiency of your home. Many home improvements will also qualify for a tax break! Edmond Electric offers free home energy audits for homes that are at least 10 years old.
