Chapter Twenty - Saturday

Harry and Ron were up relatively early the next morning and ordered room service for breakfast, instead of heading downstairs, because they wanted to get ready quickly to go out for the day.

"So, what should we do today?" Ron asked as he walked into the loo to get ready.

Harry was ready first, as usual and was sitting on his bed waiting on Ron. Harry started to answer, "Well-", when there was a shriek in the loo.

Harry rolled his eyes. When Ron yelled like that, in a high-pitched girly scream, it meant one thing. Ron yelled, “Harry! Harry!”

Harry said calmly, “Yeah, I’m coming.” Harry walked into the loo to see Ron standing at the farthest end of the small room, naked, with a towel pressed up to his face, visibly shaking. His eyes peered out from over the towel’s edge.

Ron mumbled, “It’s over there!” He pointed to the tub. Harry looked inside and saw a relatively small spider crawling around the bottom of the tub. He grabbed a piece of tissue, reached in and squished it. He wrapped the carcass in the tissue and took it over to the toilet.

As he did this, Ron was trying to press himself even further into the wall. Ron mumbled from behind the towel, “Ugh...”

Harry dropped it in the water and flushed the toilet. He watched it swirl until it was gone.

Ron moved the towel from his face and said nervously, “Is it gone?”

Harry said, “Yes...and does Ryan know of this fear?”

Ron’s body was still shuddering a little, but he said, “Yeah, but I didn’t tell him the story behind it.”

Harry said, “What are you going to do when he is out of town?”

Ron muttered, “Dunno.” Then he continued, “Well, maybe I’ll just shut the door wherever it is, ‘til he comes home.” When it came to spiders, Ron was totally irrational.

Harry didn’t say anything. He didn’t want to tell him, that the spider would just crawl out and track him down. Harry left Ron to finish getting ready.

Ron came out a few minutes later and again they were left with trying to figure out what to do for the day.

Harry asked curiously, “Do you want to go see your friends in South Beach?“ Harry didn’t want to, but Ron hadn’t mentioned those friends since Ryan came in the picture.

Ron waved his hand in annoyance and said, “No, we'll have to see them tonight.“

Harry said, "Oh, that's right. You're a singing star tonight."

Ron snarled, "Yeah, right. I'm gonna embarrass myself." Harry laughed and Ron continued, "So about tomorrow, how about maybe just see where the day takes us?"

Harry said, "Yeah, oh, there's the Museum of Science that looked interesting. They have a planetarium."

Ron snorted and said, "Oooooo, we can look for Uranus!"

Harry laughed, "I thought you only wanted to see Lavender's?"

Ron laughed loudly. "Oh, I got over that!" Harry and Ron went into a fit of giggles over their old, tired, worn out school joke.

They decided to start at the Museum of Science. They stopped by a store and bought a bunch of candy to eat. They shoved it in their pockets, so they would have snacks all day. They stood waiting for the Metromover when Ron said, “All we need is a couple of trunks and a couple of owls and we’d be set.”

Harry said, “Well, we do have our pockets full of sweets.”

Ron smiled, “But no chocolate frogs!”

Harry grinned back. The train came and they jumped aboard. They found two seats side by side and they were able to look out the window. As the train started moving, Ron pulled a chocolate bar out of his pocket and started munching. Harry pulled out of his pocket a little bag of jellybeans, whose flavors reminded him of Bertie Botts’. They sat there talking and eating, until the train stopped at the station nearest the Museum of Science.

Ron said, “I think this is it!”

Harry said, “Oh, it is!”

They got off the train and walked the few blocks over to the Museum of Science. Harry said, “Do you think you are going to be able to contain yourself, if we go see the planetarium show?”

“Probably not.” Ron said honestly.

Harry snickered. They bought their tickets and walked through the front of the museum. They wandered around looking at large planet models and read the information on the tags. They had an hour before the planetarium show.

They looked and pointed out things to each other. They noticed the information was pretty much the same as in their Astronomy class and they marveled at much they remembered from their Hogwarts class.

Just before they walked to the planetarium, Ron spied a model of the planet Uranus, which set him in a fit of giggles. Harry was trying to stifle his laughter as they stood in line to get in. He gave the attendant their tickets. The attendant glared at Ron, who was chewing on his bottom lip, trying not to laugh.

Harry and Ron found seats and leaned way back to enjoy the show. The place went dark and the lights of the stars shown on the ceiling of the large room. Harry listened to the man speaking and watched as the different lights flashed as he talked.

It was inevitable that as soon as the man said, ‘Uranus’, Ron tried to stifle a laugh. Harry glared at him and whispered, “What is wrong with you? It’s not that funny!”

Ron choked out, “I know. I don’t know why I...I...can’t help it!” He was unable to keep himself from laughing. People around their seats shushed them. Harry tried to maintain himself and have some decorum, but he was being sucked into Ron’s silliness.

They were both in a state, when someone came up the aisle and whispered, “Excuse me, if you can’t be quiet, you will need to leave.”

Harry was able to say, “Yeah, sorry.” He turned away from Ron. He could hear Ron softly laughing. Harry whispered, “Shut up!”

Harry could hear Ron choked down his laughter and Harry turned farther away from him. Harry looked up at the stars trying to concentrate on the flashing lights. They mostly maintained themselves until the show was over. The moment the lights went on, they both ran from the room and burst out laughing. Harry tried to look at Ron, but it was just like some days in school, when they couldn’t even look at each other without going into a fit of laughter.

They walked outside away from bothering all the other people and sat on some steps, clutching their stomachs, trying to stop laughing. Finally, Ron turned to Harry and said still chuckling, “I’m gonna miss you, Harry. It’s days like this that make me feel I’m still eleven and the fact that you’re my best mate, makes me really happy.”

Harry wiped his watery eyes, from laughing so hard and said, “Ron, promise me, that at least once in awhile, we’ll have days like this?”

Ron said, “Oh, yes, Harry, we will!”

When they had calmed down they went back inside and continued looking at all the exhibits, but stayed away from ‘Uranus’.

When they had seen everything they wanted to, they headed back to the train. They decided to head back towards the train station nearest the hotel. They got off the train and walked towards the Bayside Marketplace for a late lunch.

After lunch, Ron suggested they go to the hotel and put on their suits and head for the beach. Harry liked that idea, so they did.

Up in the hotel room, Harry pulled out his blue long swim trunks that he really liked. Ron pulled out those horrible looking Speedos, but Harry didn’t say a word. They got dressed, gathered their things and headed for the beach.

They walked down the sidewalk around Bayside, until they reached the beach they had been at before. They found a quiet place and spread out their beach towels. Ron flopped on his and pulled his hat over his eyes. Harry said, “I’m thirsty. You want a soda?”

Ron mumbled, “Nah. I want one of those tropical drinks.”

Harry said, “Ugh. No. I’m getting a soda.”

Ron snickered, but just said, “Okay.”

Harry got up and traipsed through the sand towards the place to buy sodas and snacks. When he returned, Ron had a tropical drink in his hand. Harry said, “How did you get that so quickly?”

Ron said, “They just came by!”

Harry said, “Ron, you need to put sunscreen on.”

Ron pulled his hat from his eyes and said good naturedly, “Yes, Molly!”

Harry laughed and said, “Okay, okay...” Ron did though pull out the sunscreen and slather it on his body.

They lay there relaxing in the hot sun. After awhile, Ron started to snore and Harry was slightly dozing. The sky was as blue as the ocean and the sun was hot and humid, but pleasant. Harry, in his semi-conscious condition, could feel the sun heating into his skin. He could feel the salt and sand particles float through the air and land on his body. It felt so good. Harry fell asleep.

He woke with a start, but he sat up, looked around and saw Ron snoring away, and saw all the people still on the beach. He wondered what time it was. He couldn’t have been asleep too long. He grabbed more jellybeans out of the bag that he had put in their tote. He munched on the different flavors and watched the waves of the ocean, the body boarders and the people just standing and playing in the water.

The guy with the drinks came by again and Harry asked him what time it was. He said it was four. Harry realized he had only been asleep for a little over an hour. He got up and walked towards the waves. He put his feet in the water and walked along the shore, splashing as he went.

He walked down the beach, and then headed back. He glanced up at where Ron was and saw he was sitting up. Ron waved at him and Harry waved back.

Ron got up and trudged down the sand, towards the water. Ron splashed towards Harry. Then Ron kicked up a wave of water and it hit Harry on his upper legs getting his trunks wet. Harry kicked back and before they knew it, they were kicking and splashing each other like kids. Soon, they were soaked and laughing again.

They walked back up to their towels and without drying themselves flopped back on their towels. Harry pulled out his camera and snapped a picture of Ron lying on his towel. Ron said, "Hey!" He snatched the camera from Harry and took a picture of him sitting there laughing.
