I've finally got my hands, at last, on this kit of a lovely looking and quite effective aircraft. The Nakajima B6N2 Tenzan (Jill) was a carrier-based torpedo/2x 250Kg bombs Bomber. It was developed to be the replacement for the B5N2 (Kate) and played a huge role in hindering the advance of the US Navy fleet through the Pacific War.

The kit, as is expected by hasegawa, is wonderfully cast, great detail all over, which are must-haves when building at this scale, not as easy to hide mistakes as in 1/72!
As with my other preview, I feel I must apologise for the poor piccies, but I cant get the hang of my digital camera, plus the fact it's only a cheap one and not very good. You will unfortunately have to take my word when I say this is probably the best cast model aircraft I have ever seen, no flash anywhere, no sinkholes and certainly no warpping. I only hope it will all go together with little or no problems!
The wheels themselves are molded with a sag, to give the impression of weight pushing down, I've found that it looks quite good, but you're in trouble if you dont like it, bring out the file, your two part epoxy putty and start sculpting! You get the chance to put on either of the two types of stores this warbird used to carry, the two 250Kg bombs or, what I'll be loading mine with, the torpedo. The actual canopy is very nice too, but you will need a steady hand to do all those really thin panel lines.
The Instruction Manual is, as we have come to expect with Hasegawa, very straight forward and consice. Every step of the construction is well drawn out and the labeling is very good. The painting instructions are again easy to follow. The particular aircraft the painting instructions and decals pertain to are from the HIMEJI Flying Group.
A nice feature Hasegawa have included are the folding wings, the instructions show that you can have one or the other, but I think it is possible with a little scratch building, and when I say little I mean as in miniature size, to create a mechanism to have one or the other at any time. The wheel-wells look nice, a good paint job will make that section of the aircraft look super, if you want the undercarriage down anyway. It is a real shame you cant see these pictures clearly, because the nicest part of this kit is the cockpit tup, it is full of detail, beautifully crisp, add a little thin wire and another good splodge of paint and you will have a gorgeous cockpit good enough to display on its own.
The Decals are well done too, with two options for the cockpit controls if you want (though with all the raised detail I would suggest painting still) and all the roundells and external colours for the aircraft as mentioned above.
