The Kit: Having decided to build a Mig-17 it was just a case of deciding which make and what mark. When the Hasegawa kit came up on the web at a good price it seemed an obvious choice. Having checked out an old Hasegawa catalogue I discovered it was the radar equipped Mig-17. Not in my opinion the best looking of the 17s but I decided to go for it anyway.

In the box you get three sprues of parts. The canopy is separate and looks the part. The detail is mainly raised lines and lots of rivets. A pilot figure is included which for me is a bonus as I like to model my aircraft fully crewed. The kit dates back to at least the early 70s and looks detailed for the time. The decals are for a USSR and Czech air force aircraft, though due to their age I have decided to use some after market decals.

Conclusion: Although one of Hasegawas oldies it looks like it will make into an accurate looking Mig-17. I have opted to build mine, after much research, as an Egyptian Air Force example using Hi-Decal decals. I hope to include a mini build review in the future.
Many Thanks to Andy for another preview!
