This present earth shall literally be destroyed and a literal new earth and heaven shall be created.
According to the bible this earth and the heavens shall literally be destroyed and a literal new earth and new heaven shall be created.The world shall not live forever.The bible says in 2 Peter 3:5 "But the heavens and the earth, which now are,by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men". Also in 2 peter 3:10 the bible say that"But the day of the Lord will come as thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."These passages shows that the destruction of the earth and heaven is real.
In revelation 21:1 the bible says "and I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.In Revelation 21:23, the bible says that"and the city(new Jerusalem) had no need of the moon, to shine in it.." verse 25 says that And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for'there shall be no night there'.If there will be no night in the new earth and that there will be need of the sun and the moon then it is clear that the present system where we have the earth rotating causing day and night and the sun shining giving life upon the earth shall not be there.Also the bible says that we shall have new heavenly bodies(1 corinthiansd 15:49) why should we need the present elements of the earth and the heaven?
