Starting from king Solomon, the age of the earth progresses according to the years each king ruled.Also, Solomon ruled for forty years but we are told that from the time the children came out of Egypt up to the fourth year of his reign it was 480 years(I kings 6:1). Hence you subsract 4 years from his forty year old reign
From the time the temple was to be rebuilt after captivity in Babylon up to the death of the Messiah(Jesus) it would take 69 weeks{Daniel 9:25-26).A week is a period of 7 years according to Genesis 29:27 & 30.Therefore you multiply 69 by 7 to give you 483 years.
Jesus was killed in 30 A.D. Hence from jesus' death up to 2004 december it is 2004-30 = 1974 years.Then this figure you add to the years since creation until Jesus'death.
