Gothic Gate... Chapter 1 As far as I can tell, I had really had enough of the same old crap people used to dish out on me. I think by then, I just about had too much I can handle for one lifetime. I sat back looking for an idea in my head, but because I had too much around me I couldnt concentrate. I gave up only seconds later, but began to sit back and watch my surroundings. I smiled at the funny way people walked, as if they werent already aware. More or less I began to get some good Ideas flowing, about what I could use as a story but as I did, I noticed my small descriptions of people and the way I write seemed to go hand in hand. I would write about someone in one paragraph, and describe his or her habits then try to describe a fictional event. Not too far fetched, as this would not happen. By some strange weird sequence that person would act out what I had just written. I dont know it just a prediction or pure coincidence, when I write in my laptop. Last Thursday I hoped my girlfriend could join me for a dinner, and maybe a dance or something. We had busy lives and it became hard to see each other, despite this we are happy in our arrangement. I think because of the work I do I didnt want someone to complicate things with commitment and marriage. I suspected that Kate wanted to take things slow too it was a comfortable arrangement. That night wasnt particularly special but we did plan ahead for this occasion. She phoned me to tell me of the news that she couldnt make it. I didnt mind; time to try out my new powers, I wanted to type-up a story of love money and power. Fuck it! If Kate is busy with work Ill have a ball with this and make me the centre of attention. I began with something simple like having a drink at the bar, and so I wrote about the beautiful woman who was at the other end of the room. I thought it would be nice if she came up to me and strike up a conversation. As she walked towards me she tripped and started to apologise. I think that was her way of saying hello. I smiled and put away my laptop and brought her a drink. Im Seth by the way and you?. Im Susan She smiled with a warm sense she was a free agent. I started to talk about capo era basketball, computers, poetry, reading and writing. Talking to strangers until theyre no longer strange or living life to its fullest. It was a simple opener to a start of a new love affair. I didnt notice at the time that one of Kates office colleague was in the bar at the far corner watching me. She rang Kate up and told her about what I was doing. By now I had already got really intimate with Susan, and she was on her third glass of wine when she suggested we should go somewhere quite. I could hardly believe my luck. I knew Kate wasnt returning to my flat to be a while back so I suggested coffee back at my place. Susan and I kissed passionately in the taxi, and we got out and into my flat before we go into anything X-rated. By now I was throwing my clothes and shoes across the room just managing to climb the stairs. Our lips almost locked together in lust and foreplay. She moaned receptively on the floor in the kitchen, just about everywhere which turned me on. Lying in the arms of Susan was great I soon fell asleep only to wake up in the morning at the mess all around. Susan seem slow to rise but I had to get rid of the evidence. My Idea was to type into the laptop, that she would have to rush into work to sort out a few problems. She seem quick to leave and said she would call me, but I didnt intend to see her again. I figure she would be another Kate, and only make love whenever the mood takes her. I eventually cleared the flat of any evidence, hoping that Kate never suspects. I had felt guilty all day during work, but I decided not to bring my laptop to work instead I left it at home. I felt I couldnt write anything; the guilt of last night was too much to do anything. After work, I tried to see if Kate left any messages on my answer phone. She hadnt called at all during work, which was very strange. Until, I found that my bed and clothes in the wardrobe was completely slashed. I felt so stupid that I did this; I began to feel real shame and guilt. Picking up the phone I tried to call but there was no reply hoping to leave messages, but I didnt get anywhere. Until suddenly, I looked at my laptop and thought I can change this maybe if I erase the whole event or something. I could start over and get back to normal life. I started to boot up and look into my folders hoping to start a new story. When I saw a new file with my name Seth Martinelli, I open it up it was From Kate. I read, Seth you bastard what we had been special you took our love away and I hope you are happy with that dirty tramp. I hope Ill never see or hear from you again. In fact I think you should go to Hell!!!!!. Within a matter of a few minuets I began to feel nauseous as my fingers and my arms began to feel immaterial. The weight of my psychical presence began to fade in the sunlight. I had to get to the mirror and see what else is fading, can my face and eyes be see through?. I looked with shock and terror as what I could see is the start of my skin changing, soon I could see the inner workings of my face muscles and skull the whole image made me sick, but I couldnt even muster the contents of my stomach. I managed to turn the tap on but I couldnt feel the water running through my fingers. It looked too faint to see now. I watched in mortified horror as my skull peeled back and revealed the contents of what seems to be my eyes and brain. Even closing my eyelids was a futile thing to do it was as if I was made to enjoy the whole experience. Wait I can stop this, I thought before I end up like a brain in a jar or something. I had to hurry the whole process be began to quicken and my thoughts began to slow. Each second was seen though my eyes like an hour, the feeling of time under the adrenaline rush must be magnified a hundred times. The pain began to be unbearable worst then a sensation of being burned alive but I had to go on. I ran now to the bedroom and looked at my laptop, it was on the floor and still working. I could see Kates massage mocking me; this has to be the reason why Im fading. I fell down and looked at the message and tried to grab the keyboard. The pain of the fall was drowned out by the fact that every fibre of my being seemed to be burning away. The words of you should go to Hell!!! was the last thing I saw. My hands couldnt even make an imprint on any of the keys, as I had now disappeared into nothingness. I woke up and from then on I knew I lost her, in fact I lost everything and my pain and guilt will be forever. Ever since reading that letter I know Ill be stuck here where it counts, locked in the dark dungeons of the seventh circle of hell with only the screams of tortured souls of the infinite caverns of the Dammed. Shell never hear from me again. I have done some sinful things in my time but nether expect the weight of what Hell could bring. Did I infact ever deserve this at all?, I curse the day I ever looked at that message. How I got here was a simple fact that my laptops now equipt with powers and was used by my Ex to get me in the worst place I could be. The cell of mine is locked; all around it is damp with the smell of musky death. The walls filled with cobblestones and traces of blood. People must have been clawing their way out to no avail. I expected to do the same but tried to make sense of all of this. Instead I feel I couldnt feel anything, like a mindless zombie I feel the whole march of time and the eons of years pass me by. Over and over again the sense of lost time, each cycle of eon begins and ends, I felt my self-slipping away. Noises from the next cell would keep me awake. I felt the cold shiver of what seems to be morning but time loses any meaning in a place like this. Hello I cried, no one spoke instead movement. I tapped on the door trying to find if my neighbour could hear me. I soon got tired doing this in fact anything I do seemed to be very tiring. I eventually gave up think this is the rest of my life, whatever life I have. The Door swung open and a Small devilish creature more human looking then devil. Mr shippmen will you accompany me to the waiting room, he replied, Im not Mr shipmen I said thinking this is surreal. You are Harold Shippmen are you not, looking at his clipboard. No Im not, but can I get the Hell out of here. Who are you, he said flicking the pages of his notes to find any familiarity. Seth Martinelli I said as if this was all a mistake. I havent got you listed at all here, puzzling over the names at which he was working over. Look if you dont have me in your list then let me go, its not as if Im supposed to be here I begged. Im sorry I cant let you go until I find Mr shipmen his absence is making my job very awkward, Ill note your problem and get back to you. Then he grabbed the handle and pulled the door. No wait I hurried to the door but it closed as quickly as it opened, leaving me with a sense of lost. I hoped a quick return and so checked the door anyway. The door seemed solid as always and alot warmer as the heat of the other side could only be presumably hotter. The keyhole was my only window to the other side, I could hardly make out the shadows of the wall but I thought I could see hoofs and a horn or something. I must be going out of my mind seeing and hallucinating Hell, but this is the longest time Ill ever been high, or for the fact I havent been with out food. I step back and started walk around my cage like a lion biding my time, to find anything what could either keep me occupied or help me escape. I only started to pick up rocks to throw at the wall when I heard a click or a latch being opened. Hello, I shouted. The door squeaked open and the heat through the crack in the doorway drew my attention. I wafted the heat away for some comfort but walked towards the doorway to find the full effect of the temperature. Shit, its hot out there, I said to myself as I inched towards the next room it was part of a interconnecting hallway of a large cavern. A dark figure in what looks like a monks robe looked at me and turned a corner. Hey wait I want to thank you I shouted and ran to greet him, only to find he was gone. What seems like an underground cavern is a labyrinth of hallways and cell doors. Great I said to myself Ironically, Theres no way I can get out of here. Please sahib help me I turned around and the next thing I knew I was in some horrible Turkish prison. All around me was rotten flesh and chained prisoners almost on the brink of death. I was puzzled how I got here in the first place but was snapped out in mid thought by the cries of the prisoners. Help me sahib he said again, I tried to pull the chain with no luck. The rock behind you he said with encouragement, I managed to lift the rock and drop it over the chain. Again sir you nearly had it, I tried and manage to split a link in the chain. Now pull sahib he pleaded, with all my strength and his we pulled till the link came right off. Thank you sahib I am forever in your debt, the success of breaking the chain encourage the other prisoners to beg for the same rights to freedom. Help us please they cried, but from a distance an echo of what sounded like large dogs. Sahib we can not save anyone they are coming for us the prisoner tugged as he tried to explain. It is the beast who guards these halls we must go sahib Go Now He then grabbed my hand and led me to what seems like dark alleys that reminded me of medieval Turkish streets. Where are we going? Hey you where are we going I was now thinking things might get worst. Dont be frightened sahib, I think we might of escape him he reinsured me. From what of I asked as I looked behind to see if there is anyone there. In the shadows far in the distant I could see appears to be a dog of some kind. Hey I can see a dog behind us I remarked. Run Sahib, it is him the beast that guards the caverns. I could see how the dog looked pretty big against the walls of the streets; he had three heads mounted on his body and all of them looked hungry and angry. His teeth dripped with saliva and blood, I can only imagine how it can easy make a meal out of my new sidekick and me. We zipped into a side street and again through a passageway it seemed to grow darker and mistier. Till there was a thick fog around us making it hard to see my hand in front of my face? I think weve lost that thing now, feeling slightly safe and pretty much exhausted. We seemed to be wondering though the back streets of what can be described the arse end of Baghdad. God!! Where the hell am I I asked to myself, You are in one of the seven circles sahib, It looks like my own time but this place is cursed with the perpetual midnight Seven Circles what that I asked, Hell consists of many time zones of war death and famine it moves around and there are seven time zones to it we are imprisoned. This is the first of many circles and we cannot escape, nor can we lose the beast that guards the prison that is now following us. I escaped thanks to some monk or other, if we can find him I recon we got a chance. Who is this monk and where can we find him asked my partner, look I dont know he must be around somewhere, He helped me to get out of my cell and I recon he might know the way out. Ok sahib he agreed reluctantly. We had no choice, as this was the only way to find out how to escape. It seems that Hell was one of those places that if you knew about you might be working in the system or imprisoned in it. Either way this monk didnt seem the type who is a jailer nor an inmate. Though dark and sinister looking his voice seemed friendly and familiar. On instinct I think he could be on my side. The other devilish creature was too bad either; I think he could have pursued the powers that be to help me out, as I wasnt on any list. Too late now I am out and I am on the run with a medieval looking Turkish beggar running away from a three headed dog with a taste for human flesh in Hell. I can only imagine what my past life could be like, God I miss Kate. Its the first time I thought about her and yet she did this to me. Are you ok sahib the beggar asked, just thinking about my life before and my girlfriend Is she your betrothed? I showed him a picture of Kate and me from my wallet. She looks quite a beauty He remarked. I think so but she got me in this mess after explain the whole sordid details about the laptop the other girl and the message Musthapha and I became sort of close. The fog seems to be lifting a little, what dim light we could seems to improve and clear around us. I think we should move on Musthapha, I said, thinking that the visibility could cause attention to our selves. Though no one could be seen at all, the threat of a three headed dog as big as a house made me particularly cautious. Lets get out of the city and far away form that dog Trying to formulate a plan I thought the best way is to cover as much distance as possible. Musthapha agreed and we walked out of the ally way to a narrow street. The street was empty and all the shutters was closed, Looking around I began to think if there was anyone else around. What is this place Musthapha, why isnt there any one around. This place looks like a city in my time, but it seems that no one inhabits this place, or anyone who we can see. I hear that most of the devils who help imprison our souls live in these places away from the light. Our souls you mean Im not physical I had just realised that I might not be real after all. Sahib in this place anything is possible he reassured me but going back to where I came from seems a million miles away. Is there any danger in this place besides the dog? I asked. There are many dangers beside the beast, the Devils who live here carry great powers. They work to enslave us and to sustain this place, they feed off our torment and pain somehow. We must keep our wits sahib and not give into fear, that is way a survived. How did you end up in Hell Musthapha I asked thinking this must be a delicate subject. I was in Trade and my riches came from Saladin himself, the war against the English offered me many opportunities. But the pursuit of money wasnt enough and I soon began trading with the English and the king found out, and I was hung for treason. The strangest thing though the prison guard who watched over me knew where I was going and told me things will be ok but I had to be rescued in the next life. He knew you would be here and said that if I was to be free that I should help you. He gave me poison and said I should take it before I hang, but I had to promise that I should help you. This is why I never gave up hope here and why I believe you and your monk friend. Ok this is strange now, you know I was coming and because someone had told you I became very confused and frightened by all of this. Ok so what you telling me, is that Im in hell sent to my girl and you and your jailer knew about it? This has got to be too weird I remarked. sahib, I did not know how or why these events came to be He was sincere in his excuses and some reason I began to wonder what else is in store. As we walked up the street the square up ahead was empty but for the stains of blood and the evidence of medieval torturer. The smell in the air sank of putrid rotten flesh; it was the first thing I picked up next to the visual evidence of murder or a realistic horror film backdrop. Hmmm some thing tells me we shouldnt be here I half joked but really meaning it. We cant go back, sahib this square is the last one to the city exit. I sense a feeling of foreboding, the murder and violence seems to push all the right buttons to scare the shit out of me. I picked a sword just in case and so did Musthapha; we seemed to be thinking alike lately. I walked slowly a cross the square avoiding the blood puddles and the odd severed limb. Crossing further along the path became like a sick game of hopscotch, I avoided the limbs and puddles for clear areas to walk on. Only our steps seem to echo in the square, as there was nothing else not even birds to break open the silence. The exit was a few hundred yards ahead, the main gates was looked like one of medieval castle doors that open in the middle. It looks like a scene from one of those cheesy horror movies, the ones that are on late at night on TV. Except I never learnt any combat moves or how to defeat any monsters. Musthapha do you know how to fight? I asked thinking we might have to go into combat. Sahib I know a few moves but here my skills are useless, the beast that has done this could of used magic. The bodies around me seemed to be either pulled apart or partially eaten. The meat from the bones looked as if it was chewed recently, it seems fresher as we further we ventured out. We had to hold our breaths and keep very quite, the feeling of a presence seem to loom over us. The large main gates though all bloodstained was partially open, there had been battle damaged but still remain solid. I crept up to the crack in the gate, my sword held up high ready to strike and slowly take a peek outside. I couldnt see anything in the darkness but I could hear a slurping sound. The noise was a few hundred feet away, but the poor lighting conditions made it really hard to see. The crunching sounds was definitely chewing, it was accompanied by low rumble seem to me like a very large animal munching something. Musthapha looked around he agreed with me that we couldnt get out by this exit. The animal was occupied by its meal, I see no reason to go out and become its new snack. Though now we were stuck with a dilemma of where to go. Ok lets just walk along the wall and there maybe another exit I said hoping an easier way out. Mustapha shook his head this is the only way out sahib, these walls are to keep the army of beasts away. Ok beasts in the city beasts out of the city is there any where we can go thats relatively safe?. To the north of this place, I hear that a city of the sirens keep the knowledge of this world Thats great if we go north we might be able to read up on getting out of here. But the beast out side the gates is still outside warned Musthapha. Ok well he sounds a few hundred yards to the right of the gates, I recon we go left and sneak across. I think theres some sort forest half a mile to the left. Then we go through the forest and head north hopefully we might meet this monk and monsters wont be an issue. Saying this was much easier but now I was sneaking out of the gates with sidekick in toe and a sound of snoring was rising from the right side of the gates. The squelching noise under foot was quite but thank God it didnt drew attention. I become slightly accustomed to the gory underlay but my mind tried to think of pleasant times. Chapter 2 Kate cried all night from what she heard from her office college it was obvious from the looks in the office today. The redness in her eyes and the puffy skin around her she looked quite a sight. Though she seemed tough in the office and to Seth at times her inner fears would overcome her confidence. How can I be so stupid she said to her self. She held the pregnancy kit under the lamp hoping to get some other indication to change. Though this was one of many pregnancy kits that had been use for the same purpose. The bath wastebasket was half filled with many different types of boxes and used paddles; some had different methods but all indicating the same problem. She walked back into the bathroom to look at herself; the thought of being pregnant seemed strange to her but innocent of what could happen. She looked for any changes in the mirror. Most of her adult life she had not really paid attention to the possibility of bearing children, and not cared to remembered any sex education class she had at school. Kate could she the out line of her eyes and her general state, looking worst for wear she composed her self. It was clear the father had to know the truth about this. Her mind wondered to what might he say if she would be rejected or something worst. At times her relationship wasnt too loving and she could remember many times how she had to get out of seeing him because of work commitments. She knew that with every interruption he would feel uneasy with her and that would setback their plans. More importantly she began to feel it was her fault that she drove him away. The whole idea that her life was much more geared to work and love came secondary, made her sympathised her ex-boyfriend. The only comfort now was to see him; work now had taken a secondary position, it seemed too irrelevant to her. With every hour she convinced herself to contact her ex-boyfriend it was like a hypnotic suggestion. Her doubt and fears would not go away and that everything would be solved if she would pick up the phone. She looked at her watch trying to figure out what where would Seth be at this time. From out the flat in the bedroom flashed a jagged edge its lines spread out like a spiders web one meter in diameter. The lines glowed and in through the cracks a deep cavernous sound echoed through to the room. The deep within the cavern the in human cries spilled out through the spiders web out to reality. The wormhole spat out the hell spawn like some unholy infant from an unnatural womb. The smoking child coughed and spluttered into life, its new skin covered in flesh and slimy debris of blood, rock and vomit. Standing up the child resembles more like a human or a human man, from a foetal position the man gradually moved to look out at his new surroundings. The bedroom of seth martinelli still had the laptop computer switched on, the mess in the wardrobe and even evidence of the night before with Susan. The mirror in the bathroom was the main objective now; he slowly walked into see if it was really him. Having just been born into the world, the new arrival felt how strange it was to walk even the flat surface of the wooden floorboards felt new. It had been a long time since he had seen a room such as this; the porcelain sink and the bath comforted him in his security. Looking up at the mirror he was pleased at his new face the eyes and the body was of a young man in his thirties. The human sensation of laughter filled him as he paused to stretch and prod his face. His old face was much older and the fact he died already and now came back to this point in this room he thought it was a good time to finish where he left of. His new identity gives him unlimited opportunities to seek revenge; his life was cut short by a jury of his peers and hated by the public. He only wanted to service the community by helping people, reducing all anxiety and making sure they reach there destination. The angel of death` They called him or doctor Death, either way his only crime in his eyes was that he cared too much. Now with a new identity the doctor will carry out his new plan of retribution, hell couldnt hold him. He thought it must be Gods will to place him here after all he would of still be in Hell if he was in the wrong. Looking into the cabinet he looked for any sign of prescription or a name looking at a small case of sleeping tablets he could see the dosage and above a name. Seth Martinelli he read comparing the written name with the face in front of him. Walking back to the bedroom he rummaged the pile of clothes in the wardrobe and found a wallet. The photo and drivers licence confirmed this; satisfied by this he looked around for a decent set of clothes to put on. Looking at the calendar on the wall and clock it seems that his journey to the underworld lasted a few weeks. His memory told him differently the fact was each day he marked out seemed to go on and on. A Century of pain and punishment had condensed to a few days of absence, despite being live or dead. Judging by his new identity Seth had a girlfriend and a whole different life that exists beyond the existence of what Dr Shippmen had. This new life had definite advantages far away from the cold northern streets where he used to work. The Telephone rang which offset the Dr and he hesitantly picked up the phone not really thinking the conseqensences. Hello Seth the voice seemed to know the Dr, its Kate Look I need to talk to you she spoke in a low embarrassed tone as if her volume was offensive. Whats this about the Dr asked he became already comfortable in his new life. Look Meet me at the Caf down stairs at the end of your street in 30 minuets I got to tell you something. Kate was reluctant to say anything because she was more worried if Seth didnt come. Despite being someone different The Dr had to agree to become this person, this meant he had to go and see this Kate. In the back of his mind this kind of frightened him as this was an ultimate test if he can take up his new form or be declared a fraud. This could have serious consequences for his stay or identity. Looking around the room he made sure he was familiar with is surroundings, hoping to make sure that he can play the role just right. Tucking into a shirt and tie he examine his look at a nearby mirror, comparing the image and the picture on the desk beside him looked the same. The contest of spot the difference satisfied him enough to make a confident stride to the door. Already he felt ok to walk don the stairs and to the street, checking the whereabouts of his flat along the way in case he had lost his way back. The street lay silent like an eerie silence, the chill wind in the made him realised his location was at last, on Earth. The faint noise of birds and distant traffic was enough to comfort him, the reality of normal street life help put the Dr at ease. Not far of to the caf Kate walked in and sat down, she ordered a cappuccino to carm her nerves it was comforting to drink. Her hand was soothed by the fact that she felt the warm broth around her cold thin fingers. Seth walked along hoping to see any one familiar in the window of the caf; he peered in and saw nothing but unrecognisable people. He still felt strange seeing ordinary scenes of everyday life, the eons of tortured souls and demons feeding still fresh in his mind. Kate looked up to see a shadowy figure looking down her mood relaxed as Seth scan the room from the outside. She beckoned him, as he wasnt sure if he was supposed to be there. As Seth walked in Kate stood up to hug him, her familiarity felt reassuring as he hugged her back. Im glad to see you to said Seth, Look Im still mad but I have to tell you something she was hesitant to say anything further, as she wanted to find out if he would freak out. Is it something Ive done, Im sorry to Seth was stopped in mid sentence as Kate said Im pregnant. The room stood still for the both of them as they looked at each other, Seth couldnt think of a reply though his dopple-ganger would of done the same. Look Ill deal with this if you cant be bothered Kate said as she got up her nerves was still shocked. I didnt said anything Seth said Im just digesting this thats all What do you think Kate said Im happy Im just taken back thats all. Are you ok Seth said ok Kate smiled and then burst into tears, I didnt know what to do and what with us and that girl, I wasnt sure if I should tell you in the first place. Seth got up and grabbed her its all right, its ok Ill help you whatever you decide Ill be with you. Seth thought it was better to act the doting boyfriend and give basic support. Kate felt relived that at least things are closer between them, she didnt noticed that Seth was a complete stranger or a serial killer. Kate sniffled and composed herself she had to get back to work, though this was more important. I have to go, but I can meet you after work or something Ok back at my place Seth Replied. Kate just nodded in agreement and smiled as she turned away. Seth wondered what his next move should be, clearly this girl was much closer then he wanted to be. He got up and made his way back home walking slowly in deep thought. As he turned the key to his flat a phone rang, with out hesitation he picked up and answered. Hello Are your there at last, whats happen to you lately a voice asked in jest. Who is this Seth asked? Its Samuel your work colleague, whats happen to you havent been into work for a week now Im ok if thats what you called, but I cant come in for a while somethings come up all Look its Kate shes pregnant and Im in a blind panic because its complicated ok Seth replied to stop Samuel in mid sentence, he hoped that would give him enough time to figure things out. I didnt realised, look Ill schedule the clients and I can cover but I cant do this for long Thanks Sam You owe me big time pal He seemed as if he was threatening Kate rang the doorbell later that night, she seemed much happier with the prospect of a future with Seth. The apartment was now dim with the lights of scented candles and potpourri. The scene was semi romantic with nothing but the hint of forgiveness; Seth beckoned Kate to the table. She smiled looking at all the effort Seth went to prepare for this moment, though trying to hide much of her joy she sat down to what could be described as a well-cooked meal. Wow!, I think you out did your self darling Kate complimented. Its was nothing just throw a few things together Seth sheepishly replied, though an accomplished doctor he knew his cooking skills would be very helpful. They both sat down and began to tuck in, somehow the meal and the ambiance made their behaviour formal. In contrast to the weather outside which had now darkened, the grey clouds swirled above the flat. A sense of an omni presence evil seem to emerge a round the immediate area as a clear night turned to what seemed an unnatural storm front. The rain clouds poured above the flat, each drop seemed to violently crash against the roof. The storm cloud was attracted to something the force or the aura of the building became stronger. The building held up a reassuring defence against the weather outside. There seemed to be a barrier around it and Seths flat was the main focus of the force field. The invisible force stopped most of the sounds from the weather outside making the occupant oblivious to the extent of danger outside. It became too apparent to the people out side that it would be dangerous to brave the weather. Roof tiles started to loosen and tree branches seemed to break off and fly in random directions. The violent storm would start to cause property damage and affect the surrounding streets. Amidst all the wind and rain a dark figure walked casually through the streets, unaffected by the weather. He strolled to watch the occupants of the protected building. Looking out for the cause of the mysterious weather, he seemed to sense the invisible forces that strengthens and perpetuates the weather outside. His eyes scanned over the windows looking for any evidence of any activity. Unsure to which side of the building he jumped twenty feet up in the air to a neighbouring building for a better view. His action was more catlike then human, as he landed on a roof on all four limbs. His long coat and hat came right out of a detective novel, though his acrobatic skills belong to comic book character. Hoping to find some unholy evidence, the dark figure watched with hungry eyes at the northwest corner of the tower. The lightening flashed by, which made the figure temporary visible. Though exposed to the elements and he seemed unaffected by any of this. Like a living gargoyle he stood wondering where is he where is Seth martinelli?. Chapter 3 I cant ever eat Hamburgers again, I thought to himself. That Monster at the gates had been eating for quite awhile. The obstacle of getting out and now Lord knows what could be out there. The ground seems soft underfoot and I think theres a smell I cant imagine whats caused it. My escape buddy seemed comfortable at least hes smiling which counts as something. The situation made it hard to talk to him after seeing the monster. I felt completely drained of lighthearted banter as all the gore and blood seemed to leave me speechless. I didnt want to think or anything, even though the rhythm of the walking pace made it hypnotic. I could sense my inner most fear saying were all going to die. I hoped we can find a friendly face along this road, though Musthapha seemed to know what to do. He seems to think he owes me a favour or something. Until then I think Ill go along and in truth I am really grateful. I dont think Ill ever escape that three legged dog or go anywhere out of the city. The main thing now is that I had to figure out who would want me to escape from hell and how would they know in the dark ages. If I think too much I would soon get a headache and by now it feels worst then all the hangovers I ever had all rolled into one. Sahib it will soon get dark we must find shelter Musthapha spoke, which stopped me in mid thought. Ok I agreed, Lets go over there I can see some woods we can hide under the trees I am not sure sahib Musthapha spoke cautiously but agreed, as the thought of being exposed in the night was worst then the look of dark woods. We gathered up pace as the sun had already stared setting. The panoramic view of what seems like normal countryside. Made me feel more at ease, though some of the flowers and fawner seemed slightly different colour. Blues and orange which seemed strange for what is normally green. I began checking my pockets for any signs of food or something, but no such luck. Hey Musthapha, do think we can eat anything from here?, I am really getting hungry. I am not sure sahib the food I had from here was given to me, and no much of it. Ok I suggest we hunt for some kind of hare or something then maybe see if theres a stream nearby. As a kid I did some camping, all of this was kind of familiar hopefully I think things arent too different. Camping should be the same all over just hope there's no giant ants or something. The woods seem to look ok though it may be part of a large rain Forest by the size of it. As we walked up to the first tree what seems like black birds flew out of the woods a few kilometres further in. Not a good sigh I thought, Lets just camp on the edge of the woods I said too Mustapha. He had the same look when he saw the birds and agreed as quickly as I suggested it. The whole ominous atmosphere of the dark woods made us more cautious of the dangers. On the edge of the woods we looked pathetically around for food and water. I was already too tired to do any real effort even Musthapha seem to be in the same condition. Even lighting a fire was difficult, I had no matches and the wood was fairy damp to even for any spark to start. Instead I just lay under a tree to rest my back, Musthapha did the same thing. Not long after the sun went down, I could hear the previous background noises become more prominent. The night air was filled with unknown danger, with alien sounds of violent bone crushing endings. Though faint with the safety of distance, I couldnt sleep. The silhouettes of monstrous activity over by the city we had escape, looked more like a raging battle. I half expected the war to move to the forest as in any battle anything could happen. I beckoned to Musthapha to move to a safer location. The ground looked vulnerable to the both of us, the height and cover of the leaves was a better prospect. As we climbed the flashes of light in the distance help me find safe footing. I paused with every dark space, and Musthapha followed same way. Our movements looked like some coordinated event for an Olympic event. The trees branches made rest of the climb much easier. Having reached halfway up roughly 15ft or so I felt comfortable, though the height would scared almost anyone else. Musthapha was ok with everything; the height seemed to give us a sense of protection. My main concern was that I felt very hungry with the running and the climbing. I felt anyway a few hours into the night till daybreak and we start afresh. The branches around us were thick and we had a particular dense patch in which I nested. I under different circumstances I would be really enjoying the semi built tree house. The noises of the alien world in the night made it difficult for the humour to carry on. In the distance I could hear a thick throaty roar, it sounded like a dinosaur then any thing I could imagine. In fact the whole soundscape would be more prehistoric them demonic in origin. Counting sheep and hoping best was all I could do, though covering my ears with leaves helped at least with some of the noise. When the morning came it was a welcome relief, I felt half groggy with sleep and a mild migraine to add to the sensation. Musthapha had slept well; he stretched his arms out wide with a satisfied feeling. My stomach growled much more fiercely, Musthapha noticed and looked at me with the same look of hunger. We both agreed to carefully climb down and look for anything edible. It couldnt be too hard to find anything. Walking deeper into the Forrest seemed the logical thing to do. The trees were densely packed and quite shaded from the light, I had no Idea how far deep we were, as we seem to have treaked for hours. Thinking this was a futile and almost convincing. Myself that it was better to turn back. I began to hear a familiar sound of a steam. Gesturing to my travelling companion, we walked in that direction. The sound meant there could be fresh fish and water. I was imagining allsorts of things that we could be eating. Nearing the stream I could see the white foamy waters shaken by the natural rocks at the riverbank. I began to jog over diving into a safe deep end if the stream. The cool water was the best feeling I had experience since coming here. I began to thing Hell wasnt so bad after all, though I was still hungry I dived in and looked out for any signs of life. The area looked hospitable, almost like home. I could spot fishes in the river, which meant we could eat at last. Musthapha made a start trying to catch them; He even tried to improvise some kind of fishing rod. I devised a net with my shirt and two branches, I caught two fishes and Musthapha began to start a fire. We finished fairly satisfied; our meal though had a different texture to normal fish felt just as tasty. I was so hungry anyway I could eat anything; the consequences didnt looked too bad. After a satisfying burp I soon looked around to find a comfortable place to rest. I fell into a deep sleep; it was as if I was completely drained of energy. The flat where I lived came into view; I felt the sensation of being at home. All around me were the familiar positions of my life before all of this. I could hear music in the back ground as I walked to wards the bedroom. My steps became sluggish with every step and I became frozen in time. The feel was similar to being at the cell where I appeared in the underworld. The hairs at the back of my neck stood up, the fear that I had in the demonic prison was now here in my flat. Is this a dream?, I Couldnt tell the feeling was real right down to the smell of the kitchen and the feel of the carpet. It had only been minuets before I tried to enter the bedroom. I couldnt tell if there was a invisible force field but it all reminded me of the day I vanished. A voice began to holler from nowhere Listen to me you are receiving a transmission from me to warn you are in danger, before you say anything let me tell you that all of this how you got here was no mistake. The dimension portal to what you think is hell is a feeding ground for souls. There are demons all around you and its lucky you got this far. First thin you should do is to tool up, to survive this place you got to eat some of the demons around you. The fish youve eaten isnt enough to keep you safe. But now you have the power to run faster then the creatures in the woods. Look out for a tribe in the woods they are a blood clan, who could help you to achieve your goals. The Clan may give you some clues on how to get back home. |
