Here are some of the murals in the church in Pickering. The top picture shows St.Edmund, and Anglo-Saxon Saint-King, being shot through by Vikings with a bunch of arrows- kind of like Saint Sebastion. Edmund was a popular Saint in England and abroad. The picture directly overhead shows St.George slaying the dragon and next to him is one of my favorite Saints- Saint Christopher bearing Christ over the waters. Here is Christopher in his Giant form too- he was believed to be a giant. Notice the little snake monster wrapped around his ankle- cool! |
