Chapter 7

Bing.  Excuse me ladies and gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking.  We are now entering the Los Angeles area.  We should be landing in about ten minutes.  Please fasten your seat belts and return your tray tables and seat backs into the upright and locked position.  We hoped you have enjoyed your flight and thank you for choosing Air France.

JC smiled to himself.  During the remaining 4 hours of the flight, he and Margot had gotten to know each other very well.  He now knew even the most trivial of things about his newfound friend.  Such as her favorite movie- Psycho, her one phobia- drowning, her favorite smell- cinnamon, and even her favorite texture- smooth.  He now knew her loves, her hates, her addictions, her obsessions, and her fears.  Every moment of the past four hours, he had cherished.  Margot had turned out to be one of the most intriguing people he had ever known; mostly because he still didnt know anything about her.  Even considering every useless fact shes just revealed to him, she still seemed a mystery.  A mystery he
needed to solve.

He glanced over at the sleeping woman next to him.  After shed divulged her favorite food- cheeseburgers, shed told him that she was worn out.  She was sleeping soundly, snuggled against the now foggy window.  JC smiled again, this time an extremely tender smile.  He turned his body slightly so that he was facing her.  He leaned over and reached out his hand, preparing to push a few rebellious strands of hair behind her ear when he heard a voice behind him.

Sir? he jumped and immediately snatched his hand back.  He turned to face the flight attendant hovering above him.

Yes? he asked politely, though somewhat annoyed at the lost opportunity to touch her.

Im sorry sir, but Im afraid youll have to wake up your wife.  The plane will be landing shortly.

JC opened his mouth to object to her mistake but the stewardess turned and strolled away leaving him amazed and wide eyed.  JC tried to concentrate on the baldhead poking above the seat in front of him but his eyes soon wandered slightly to the right.  He saw a slender leg fitted snugly into the leg of dark denim jeans.  He jolted his eyes down to his feet and forced himself to inhale the oxygen surrounding him, struggling to catch his breath.

Chasez, what is wrong with you?  The flight attendant made a simple mistake.  The way you two were arguing about which version of psycho was better and the way you were laughing, its no wonder she thought you two were an item.

But youre not an item, and youre not going to be an item!  Now what youre going to do is wake her up and act like nothing happened... because nothing
did happen!

Ok, you can do this

You can do what? a sleepy voice wondered out loud.

JCs eyes quickly caught Margots tired pair.  He frantically searched them for an answer to her innocent question.

Uh, I canhold it until we get to the airport.  I really need to go to the bathroom.

Margot laughed at the shocked look on JCs face.  She patted his hand that was tightly clutching his armrest.

I know the feeling.  That kind of thing happens to me all the time.

JC nodded, surprised, and yet thankful Margot believed his feeble falsehood.  She re-buckled her seat belt and pulled her chair back up.  She moaned loudly when she felt the plane hit the runway.  JC looked at her questioningly.

Oh, I guess I didnt tell you, I hate plane landings.  They make me really antsy.

JC smiled thoughtfully when she winced as the plane continued to screech noisily.

Antsy in your pantsy. He mumbled amusedly under his breath.

When the wheels finally halted, Margot looked at JC strangely.

What?

I heard that, you know.

JC blushed wildly as Margot reached under her seat for her bad, stepped over him and leisurely walked off the plane.
