I was sitting at school one day about 5 years ago, next to my Australian friend Simon. At 
the time, I was obsessed with the word "Bob." It just seemed to be a cool word. I was also 
obsessed with drawing smiley-faces all over the place, which other people mistakenly named 
"Bob" by mixing my two obsessions.

Anyhow, I had absent-mindedly drawn a smiley, and looked at it. I said "Bob." Then I looked 
over at Simon, and said "Simon." He looked up in confusion as I went back and forth.. "Simon, 
Bob, Simon, Bob.. SimonBob." A nickname was born.

A few years down the road, I was playing Pokemon. (Okay, okay, if you stop laughing I'll tell 
you the rest of the story.) I had just earned a new Abra, and since it was kinda cool-looking 
and I needed a psychic-type for my team, I decided to give it a nickname. I'd been naming my 
other Pokemon "Something Bob" so they were kind of a Bob family. Abra wound up getting the 
nick "SimonBob."

A little while after that, I regged the name "simonbobx" for a Hotmail account ("simonbob" 
was already taken.) Since then, I've routinely gone online as SimonBob, up to the day I 
wandered in on a little site, which was known back then as "earthbound.net." A few years 
after that, I finally got the Internet in my own home, and went searching for the EB site 
that intrigued me so much.
