I've now changed countries and am writing this in Fremantle Australia...

Before leaving New Zealand on Wednesday, I went to Cape Reinga which is right up on the very tip of the North Island. From there you can see the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Ocean crashing together below you. On the way back the bus drove down Ninety Mile beach (actually only around 50 miles long), and stopped off to allow us to go sandboarding down some enormous dunes. Very good fun, but sometimes a little difficult to stop at the bottom, as I found out by crashing a couple of times! (Click

I went back down to Auckland on Tuesday afternoon and then flew out of New Zealand on Wednesday lunchtime having spent just over 11 excellent weeks in NZ.

I am staying at Fremantle, which is on the coast close to Perth, and have spent the last couple of days catching my breath and pondering what to see and how to get around Australia (it is a huge country!). I've already been caught in one torrential downpour which hopefully isn't a sign of things to come (it hasn't rained here for ages apparently!). However, it is looking hot and sunny today so I think I will go to the beach, and possibly go swimming in the Indian Ocean, before beginning to see Australia in earnest next week....
