| What a fun 2 days on aeroplanes that was - I think that I have started to really quite enjoy aeroplane food now! Thankfully US Customs didn't present any problems this time - only a 2 hour long queue to get through. Anyway, I arrived in Auckland at 7am on Tuesday, having lost a day somewhere over the Pacific. I met up with Phil and Nic (friends from UK) for lunch in Auckland - coincidentally they were about to take the reverse of the flight I had just got off, and fly to LA that evening. The next few days were spent catching up on sleep, doing washing, getting my head shaved again and having a look around Auckland, before heading off on Friday. (For photos click HERE.) It certainly seems extremely strange to be back in an environment where I can actually understand and communicate with people again. And the hot showers here seem like the best in the world!!! I am travelling around New Zealand on the Magic Bus, which is a hop on hop off service that runs around the entire country. It makes getting around ridiculously easy as it picks you up from your hostel in the morning and drops you off at another hostel in the evening. To begin with I am heading south down the North Island, through NZs main volcanic/geothermic areas. Lots of pools of bubbling mud, stinking sulphur and steaming water (click HERE for photos). I am then planning to cross to the South Island and spend most of my time touring around there. |
