After spending a week at Caye Caulker we decided it was time to move on. Diving in Belize is really expensive and lots of people had recommended going to the Bay Islands in Honduras where diving is also reputed to be excellent and much cheaper.

So, on Wednesday we headed back to Belize City and bought plane tickets down to Honduras. Nick and Sarah decided to have a short diversion and spend a couple of days in Copan so I was left to make my own way to the island of Utila. Neadless to say I screwed this up, and ended up on the island of Roatan instead. Ooops. I did have a good excuse - the weather was so poor that most airports were closed and the ferries to the islands weren't running. I was given a choice of getting trapped on the mainland or flying to Roatan, where the airport was still open, so I chose Roatan.

Anyway, I arrived in the middle of a huge storm. The tiny plane that I was flying on got tossed around all over the place on its landing approach. There were a lot of visibly relieved passengers when we finally landed safely!

The rest of the week was spent sitting around in driving rain and howling winds listening to the roar of an exceedingly rough sea! So much for caribbean paradise - it would seem I came at the wrong time of the year. The weather finally started to calm down a bit at the weekend, and I got to go diving on Sunday.
