Started off the week with some more reef monitoring dives on Monday and Tuesday. Mechanical problems hit again on Wednesday and diving had to be canned for the day. However, this wasn�t a complete disaster as it gave us an opportunity for an excellent game of beach football. Most of the particpants were limp�ng for a few days after this....
After the break from diving on Wednesday I spent the next few days doing the PADI Rescue Diver course. This included the hilarious "buddy from hell" dive, where everything that can go wrong does - people falling overboard, equipment not working, buddies running out of air etc. I�ve never had a laughing fit underwater before - I was laughing so much I was struggling to keep my regulator in my mouth...
We ended the week by decorating Pez Maya as a pirate ship and having a big fiesta. Lots of drinking and some rather extreme antics followed - several people were sporting sword fighting injuries the next day, and the roof over the dining area only just survived an attempt to scale it...The party went on until the small hours by which point there didn�t seem to be much point in going to bed, so I had a walk up the beach and took a load of photos of the sunrise. Remarkably, given my drunken state, some of them have come out quite well! Hopefully I can get some on the website soon...
I finally crashed in a hammock at around 9am and slept for an hour or so. Most people went into town for the rest of the day but I thought a day of rest was more appropriate and so I spent the day sleeping, swimming, reading and generally lounging around! How tough.....
