| Red Faction Red Faction is another step closer to realism for first person shooting games, rocket launchers actually leave more then just a little mark in the scenery and glass shatters realistically all thanks to the Geomod technology (translated into English it means scenery deforming) which should make for an even more satisfying experience! I'll begin explaining this Geomod, how good is it? does it affect gameplay in anyway? these will both be common questions of those of you who haven't yet played Red Faction, well lets see. Unlike any other first person shooters which just black out the walls a little when a rocket hits, Red Faction instead causes huge craters that show real impact within the environment, can't get through a door? Try blasting the wall by its side to make an entrance, sadly this method doesn't always work though. You can even use the falling rocks against your enemies, so realistic and so next gen! But of course along with all that Geomod stuff you need good gameplay to go with it and Red faction doesn't disappoint! The enemies can see almost as good as any average sighted person but sadly still act rather dim, running past you or standing right in front of you while you are holding a rocket launcher, I mean that's just dumb, those idiots! Graphics are one of the only areas that are lacking in Red Faction as in some parts they resemble the PSONE and in some parts it also has the odd bits of slowdown especially when the Geomod technology is getting used to its full effect. There is also a two-player mode which allows you to have up to four bots competing against you. The Geomod technology makes things more exciting here but shame there's no four-player mode... Red Faction is one of the best PS2 games to date mainly thanks to the exciting new Geomod technology but most importantly good fun which is what games are supposed to be!
