World Championship Snooker 2002

One of the most boring sport ever known to man doesn't and has never really had many games to try and really capture the boring parts and the thrills (yes there is some) of the sport. You can always rely on the goods from English-bred Codemasters, as they prove yet again that they are really really good at sports games!

Lets start with the ball physics which are quite simply put, brilliant, you get two arrows, one brown and one white, the brown one represents where the ball you want to hit with the cue ball is going to go and the white arrow represents the position the cue ball is going to end up in. It is nothing but accurate, if you miss a shot it's down to your bad judgement on the day, nothing else, they are that good, and so realistic in motion. When you go to hit a shot a power bar comes up, which you are in full control over, push the power up and down for how hard you want to hit the ball, it all works a treat, just brilliant!

If you walked in to the room unaware that WCS is a game, you would think it was real, it's only when the human figures appear, that you know it is a game, because they are kind of rubbish I must say, while the balls shine realistically and the green felt of the table looks like the real thing.

The computer opponents are at times ultra hard, making it a somewhat frustrating solo experience, but if multiplayer is possible, it's great fun, especially for those with that vicious competitive streak.

If you can get past the boring presentation (the balls getting cleaned, the cues getting chalked etc) and the crap player models, you will find a brilliant and realistic simulation!
