| Toca World Touring Cars The world�s most exciting motor sport in your living room, but is it better then Ridge Racer Type 4.Many regard touring cars as the world�s best and hardest motor sport. But have Codemasters made a good game for the best racing action well read on. The opening flashes on to the screen and compares the real excitement of the real life sport to the game and it looks great next to it. It�s a superb opening very straight to the point. But enough about the opening how about the game. The two prequels were actually only based on British touring cars but the third instalment is based around the World touring cars (WTC) making it the best of the lot. There are 58 cars well sort of, some of them are the same type of cars in different championships, there�s also some bonus cars to dig deep for with winning championship points. From country�s such as America, Britain, Austria, Australia, Japan, and Germany. The in game car models are lovely to look at with all the sponsors and paint work in place it may not look as good as Gran turismo 2 but brilliant efforts. It beats the Gran turismo series in a way the actual models can get visually damaged. When I first saw the damage I could not believe my eyes it looks like a real car after an accident, all crunched up where it is actually hit. It is really the best damage possible on any console or PC lights smash, bonnets fly and windows shatter with the damage eventually affecting racing performance as the engine starts smoking and a few more hits and it will ignite in to flames. But sadly the cars still can�t be completely destroyed. The machines are from all around the world with cars such as the Ford Mondeo, Alfa Romeo, BMW 328 and a load more all driven over 23 global tracks. The cars have a lovely realistic shine that isn�t over the top like GT2. Tracks from all over the world make an appearance such as the UK Brands hatch or Americas famous Laguna seca (remember that track that�s like a roller coaster on GT2) and a load more some to unlock and some already to burn rubber on. A new feature is night racing to test your skills on. But some of the tracks are actually easier in the night then the day. The racing is close and exciting with cars always up each other�s boots or crashing out on corners. Your pit radio will warn you of any crashes up ahead or that there�s a car behind you trying to steal your valuable position, or even tell you who�s leading the race. It gets repetitive after a while but it�s also good help for you. The championship is very different from the first two games you get offered jobs from different teams in your quest for GLOBAL GLORY. Some will ask you to take a car around a track for one lap for a test drive. Then you are given a goal and you get career points awarded at the end ,eventually allowing you to be a world championship driver. The championship is also where you can unlock new cars and tracks and cheat codes. The replay defiantly needs a mention because of the host of cameras on offer showing the car from the top, both sides, The front, The back, the wheels and to top all of these off there�s a pause camera when the cars collide the camera will sometimes pause for around four seconds showing the glass shattering or bits of the bodywork flying off. The Matrix has got a lot to answer for. So as good as RRT4? may you ask, Well not quite RRT4 is easier to control and its got those cool power-slides.
