Soul Reaver

Welcome; so you enjoyed being a vampire in Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen you liked drinking the blood, the pure sweet innocent blood. I see you know nothing of darkness.  In Soul Reaver you are faced with a deeper need; you must not only kill your enemies but then take their very souls - throw morality out of the window coz your about to learn what it means to be one of the living dead.

You play Raziel; he has served Kain for a millennium and is a bit peeved when his master throws a wobbly when our hero develops wings before him, and decides to chuck old Raz in the lake of dead to burn for all eternity much like sitting through EastEnders then! So anyway, we follow our hero as he takes vengeance on Kain and his brothers gaining extra skills as he goes including access to the Reaver sword.  Yes the plot is pretty involving but that is not what is best about Soul Reaver  - no what is best is that..

no longer are you limited to one plane of existence, no be free my brothers enter the spectral realm a twisted version of reality, where you may not be able to move objects, but nether the less you will have to fight past ghosts and ghouls in order to return to our reality  - and all this with real time 3D morphing and no loading times (except the first one) this is a very different type of game.

Other features which might catch your eye is that gasp! - You cant die! Well lets face it you are a dead vampire how much deader can you go? No instead you return to the beginning of the game when you die or switch off, but still with all your abilities! This may make the game seem easy but this is far from the truth - in fact the game has some very cryptic puzzles that have to be solved using your dimension shifting capabilities as well as your wings and gained abilities and did I mention the spells! And youll enjoy finding your weapons on walls only to rip them off; this all adds strategic elements to the game.

The controls of the game also work well and there is some good atmospheric music.  The only problem with the game is the camera angles that can be at times very annoying, but you can control these so even this is not a major fault. There is also a very annoying and cryptic ending, but then a good game always does leave you wanting more much like this review
