Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 Boxing is a serious sport right? Wrong, Ready 2 Rumble boxing thinks different. There is no sense of humour involved in boxing it is a very brutal and serious sport, but hang on a sec look at him; this one certainly does have a sense of humour. Watch how the boxers drop when they can�t take anymore, at times they look at the camera and drop to the floor while other times they will stagger around drunkenly and then drop to the canvas in a very comical manner, it makes a change to the other few boxing games out, with the reason being it doesn�t take itself too serious at all, and it�s also a decent game for the PS2�s first entrance into the boxing ring. There is about eight boxers on offer at first, including Boris �the bear� the big headed and tough talking strongman and Afro thunder the champion of R2R, there is also many more to unlock through the arcade mode, a decent gang of boxers are on offer so go and unlock em. As usual most people will opt for the two player mode, but there is also a rather entertaining championship mode on offer where you do everything from training your boxer to winning prize fights for much improved training which is great for boosting those stats, but of course you will also try your luck at the title and fight for the championship belt, each higher ranked boxer gets tougher making it difficult to get to the peak of the championship, and it�s such a shame that you get a certain amount of credits as it makes it too hard for me anyway. But the most fun is to be found in the two player mode, where with an evenly matched player to yourself you will find the fights very enjoyable indeed, with the main downfall being you get knocked down far too easy, in fact nearly in every single round one hits the canvas. Arcade mode is where you unlock all the hidden boxers and it is very easy to accomplish this if you have it on easy the difficulty setting that is, then you get a new boxer to cause some serious pain with. The Flurries make a return, and this time instead of just the once you can charge the rumble meter up to three times and with the final level you can even send your opponent somersaulting out of the ring into the crowd with a uppercut right under the chin, great new addition. R2R is fun for the people who want to play a unrealistic version of boxing for a change, but it�s nothing over spectacular but in my opinion it knockouts all the other boxing games I�ve played. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 |
