| Moto GP Superbikes, an unknown word to most gamers, a lack of games in the motorcycle genre have steered Namco on to the starting grid with the beautiful but flawed Moto GP. Remember Superbikes from EA on PSONE, that shoddy so called bike simulator that failed to impress in a number of fields such as the handling but the most important thing was the ultimate lack of racing speed. Moto GP is certainly a much better all round game. Right from the beginning of the game you are told to register yourself as a rider, including your name, nationality and helmet colours, it is quite a nice little touch forcing it in your face, allowing you to save laptimes etc. When you begin a race one thing is for certain, this baby ain't slow. It is one of the fastest racers around nevermind just superbikes, scenery whizzes by giving you great satisfaction and excitement. Also I must point out that Moto GP does not seem to suffer from any appaling slow-down, which is a good thing for a racer. Graphics are astonishly beautiful, go in to the gravel trap and a layer of dust will be thrown up, riders and bikes shine beautifully in the glowing light, crash in to a wall or an opponent and watch the rider plus the bike roll over in such spectacular fashion. Races range from arcade to the full season mode. The season mode is probably where you will be the most after mastering the arcade mode. Real world tracks are pleasing but yet disapointing as there isn't many at all. The handling is superb, it feels so good to be in charge of such a powerful speed machine whizzing around a track with your knee so close to the gravel you worry about coming off. The handling must be taken with complete caution at first and I can guarentee that you wont stay on the track long on your first play. Handling needs concentration and skill especially for the hard mode. Simulation mode is a good laugh but sadly not too good of a laugh if you are trying to win a championship, ride round a corner too agressivley and the bike will slip and you will come off it losing valuable time and damaging the bike slightly, do this too often and you will be forced in to retirement and out of that race.
