| Gundam Battle Assault Most anime video games that come around these days are never based on any plot. TV series spawn fighting games while RPG�s are made from anime series which are never seen on TV. However, Gundam Battle Assault is a fighting game from a popular series that actually has a plot, although the plot is only barely based on the show, it�s based on it none the less. The game has two options: Story mode or Versus. In Story Mode, you are Heero Yuy, and you get a choice of 12 different mobile suits, all with different abilities. The story starts off directly after the end of the war (Gundam fans may be able to identify the enemy Gundam pilots). Heero is trying to destroy all mobile suits, as he sees no need for them after the war. As he fights against many bosses and Gundams, a plot unravels, where a certain entity is watching him, and sending people to destroy him. Although 12 suits are available, there are also secret unlockable suits (the bosses). Each suit has different advantages, though I find the powerhouses more useful than the agile guys. Unlike other 2-D fighters, Gundam Battle Assault doesn�t use different animations for every single move, instead, they piece together each mech with small movable chunks (a bit like South Park). So when a character does a special move, rather than having to load a different graphic, it merely moves around a bit. This cuts down the loading times significantly. The gameplay works like your normal fighter, with combos and flashes indicating special moves, etc. But in between battles, a detailed background appears, and a small box in the corner of the screen has a picture of Heero Yuy (you) and next to him, a text box. If you�ve ever watched anime, you know that during battles, and before battles, the characters babble about how they hate each other, and explain why they think that. So, before each battle, and after, you and the enemy discuss pressing matters of �abondon your ship now� and �who is behind this?� On the whole, Gundam Battle Assault is very fun, and easy to play, although the bosses are, at times, a real pain.
