| Duke Nukem: Land Of The Babes Duke Nukem: land of the babes is very much well... errm a Duke Nukem game with all the humor and contraversy still intact, but has it got the gameplay? not at all like Duke's first outing on the Playstation instead LOTB is much more like his second game, Time to Kill with the action once again being viewed from a third person perspective. In fact LOTB may be too similar to TTK for some people's liking as the engine used seems to be the exact same one with no noticible tweaks in the program, its just as rough and ugly as TTK was, well actually it may be even uglier as a lot of months have passed since then and it doesn't really qualify for the appearence of a 21st centuery game even on PS1 and even worse is I can't remember quite as much slow down on TTK. This problem is caused by too much happening on the screen at once causing the Playstation to almost collapse trying to do so many things at once and that isn't always the case as even just minor things like explosions can notibly slow down the frame rate, so it looks rough and doesn't move too smoothly either. With that out of the way lets move on to how the game actually plays, now your probally thinking theres more LOTB bashing on the way in this paragraph, well your wrong because I really enjoyed playing LOTB. I loved the guns, the humor and the simple puzzles, a bit of slow down and rough graphics doesn't put me off a game you see. The reason I loved the puzzles is because they're so simplistic, great for a person like me who is not a puzzle type. They usually just involve finding switches or pushing stuff around. But LOTB isn't just about puzzles in fact its a bit more of an action game then puzzle game with plenty of enemies standing in the way for you to use your big guns on. And big guns you will use, with diverse weapons such as rocket launchers, flame throwers, shotguns and one of my favourites the shrinker which allows you to shrink your enemy and then step on them, great fun! A minor problem with LOTB is the amount of stages on offer, just twelve which just isn't enough but when you consider the price you might think different, its only �10 you see. Levels are well designed but with the odd problem like being able to get stuck in parts of the scenery such as ladders and walls. Duke has various comments throughout the game which are triggerd by solving puzzles or shooting bad guys these are an attempt at humor although most of the time they fail.
