Chase The Express

With Chase The Express it seemed like Sony had tried to compete with Konamis Metal Gear Solid.

You find yourself on top of the train in the thick of the action right from the start in this train-based action game. You play Jack Morton, an air-force lieutenant sent in to kill the terrorists aboard the moving express. You start the game in a single carriage and have to try to make your way through the game by collecting key cards, memos and other useful objects.

As you progress deeper into the game and story youll meet up with many people, talking to them, then moving on to solve puzzles many of which are quite straight forward to be fair. Youll meet up with several boss characters and youll be treated to the odd animated sequence but the game does appear to get boring after a fairly short time due to the repetitiveness of the surroundings. Having said this, there are sub-games to be found bringing in some variety these are rather fun to play but there should be more.

The graphics in the game are good, there is little break-up even when the characters move close to the camera.

The in in-game controls are slightly tricky at first but youll soon adapt to them. One frustrating part of the game is when you are in combat, it is often extremely difficult to targeting and killing your opponents, many of whom shoot quickly and straight at you making it hard to dodge bullets and thus surviving.

The game overall has a good atmosphere and when you enter certain parts of the express youll see blood and gore lying around-this is rather impressive.

Chase The Express is a potentially great game with plenty of action and shooting but it is let down by a few niggly faults and repetitive gameplay.
