Bloody Roar 3

PS2 owners already have one of the best fighting games ever created with DOA2 and Bloody Roar 3 is the newest of the genre, but does it come anywhere close to the greatness of DOA2?

Tekken has its ten strings, DOA2 has its multiple level arenas and Mortal Kombat has the fatalities, but what unique feature does BR3 have up its furry sleeve? Well for those of you who don't know, the BR series allows each character to turn into a more powerful beast form to devastate the opposition, great idea but has it got other stuff going for it or is it just like a novelty beat-em-up? Read on and you'll find out!.

BR3 isn't level with DOA2 on looks anyway; not meaning that it's ugly because it's not, the characters are huge and very detailed but the main letdown is the backdrops as they are lacking in detail and are first generation when compared to the gorgeous backgrounds of DOA2, but still BR3 is a rather nice looking game, the beast forms are especially impressive not to forget the tasty effects.

Hyper beast mode allows you to turn into an even more powerful form of your beast which is quicker and stronger and also completely stops the time, but when you morph into this form you must make the most of it as you only have it for a limited time and after that you won't be able to turn into a beast for the rest of the battle, each beast also has a devastating move which when used will revert them back to their human form, so the best time to use this is when your beast gauge is running low.

All that beast stuff is great but sadly BR3 is lacking in moves to master and this answers the above question, yes BR3 is a kind of novelty beat-em-up and the best way to experience it is a simple rental.

Opinions Round-Up

"I would give BR3 at least another grade, It's a great game, but like Supernova says it's more of a novelty, but it does have plenty of stuff to keep hardcore gore fans entertained, on the other hand animal lovers stay away, RSPCA: this is the animal's decisions, not ours!"Chris Wigham
