-Bruins roster features Bobby Orr with Harry Sinden coaching. Both Espositos are in this game, plus Stan Mikita for Chicago. Two classic incidents. First Derek Sanderson loses it on the ref to get ejected. Then Bobby Orr is tossed for arguing a non-call in the final minute, nearly starting a riot in the Garden.

-Wayne Gretzky makes trip to Toronto as a rookie, then scores 6 points including a penalty shot goal in an 8-5 win.
1983: Mickey Mouse Game (Devils/Oilers) -f *MSG
-Wayne Gretzky calls the Devils a "Mickey Mouse Organization" (which they were at the time), then is vindicated when his Oilers pound the Devils 13-4. Jari Kurri scored 5 goals in the game.
1984: Mario Lemieux's first game (Penguins/Bruins) -g *USA
-Mario scores on his first shift and begins his great career.
1989: Wayne Gretzky breaks all-time scoring record (Kings/Oilers) -vg *ITV/Oilers TV
-Gretzky returns to Edmonton and breaks the record in his old house.
1991 All Star Game in Chicago -g *TSN
-Chicago Stadium rocks with unforgettable rendition of the national anthem (this game was during the Gulf War). Vince Damphousse, who was the only Leaf really doing anything that year, scores four goals and wins the game MVP.
1991: Boxing Day Massacre (Maple Leafs/Penguins) -vg *TSN
-Ugly. Penguins hammer Leafs 12-1. Joe Mullen becomes first in NHL history to score 4 goals in back-to-back games.
1993: Selanne sets rookie scoring record (Nordiques/Jets) -vg *RDS with Jets radio audio
-Temmu Selanne records a hat trick to break Mike Bossy's record for goals in a season by a rookie.
1994: Final regular season game at Chicago Stadium (Maple Leafs/Blackhawks) -vg *TSN
-Old rivals meet in the final game at Chicago Stadium. The ceremonies are the highlights while these teams hated each other as they were set to meet in the playoffs days later.
1996: Final Game in Montreal Forum -vg *TSN
-Having the Stars in seemed like a strange opponent, but the Habs win to close the doors at the Forum. Includes full pre and post game from Montreal. Many teams closed old arenas, but nobody did it better than Montreal.
1997: Brawl in Hockey town (Avalanche/Red Wings) -vg *PASS (Detroit TV)
-This was basically a retaliation for Claude Lemieux, who re-arranged Kris Draper�s face in the 1996 playoffs. Darren McCarty goes after him to start major brawl, which included a classic scrap between goalies Patrick Roy and Mike Vernon. Wings won the game in OT - on McCarty's goal.
1999: Final Game in Maple Leaf Gardens -vg *CBC
-In rematch of first game in 1932, Hawks hammer Leafs in final game. Great (and long) post-game ceremonies were the highlight.
1999: First Game at Air Canada Centre -vg *SRC/Leafs Radio
-Steve Thomas scores in OT as Leafs open ACC with a win. Very strange telecast for this one: CBC was on strike at the time, so this recording is the CBC French pictures with the audio from the Leafs radio broadcast (Talk 640).

-This one gets interesting near the end, as pier-six brawl erupts including both goaltenders (Nurminen vs. Conklin) and Mike Bishai fighting from the other team's bench.
2004: Leafs/Sabres -vg *Sportsnet
-Classic! Leafs comeback from 5-2 deficit in 3rd period to win in OT. Alexander Mogilny records 1000th point on tying goal.
2005: Senators/Leafs -vg *TSN
-Hockey's back! Opening night after the cancelled season. First game in NHL history decided by shootout, won by Senators. Also Sens debut for Dany Heatley.
2005: Leafs/Thrashers -vg *Leafs TV
-Ugly early-season game. Leafs win 9-1 thanks to 7 PP Goals & Jeff O'Neill hat trick. Game turns into brawlfest after Thrasher cheapshots late in the game. Complete with post-game, where Leafs rip Thrashers coach Bob Hartley.
2006: Messier's Number 11 retired by Rangers (Oilers/Rangers) -vg *MSG
-Messier's #11 raised in hour-long pre-game ceremony.

-Classic disco hockey in Atlanta�s old Omni. Highlight of the game was a 2nd-period brawl involving Sittler, McDonald, Tiger Williams, and Ian Turnbull (the latter leaving the bench to join in). Mike Palmateer in goal for Toronto. Brad Marsh is a rookie for Atlanta.
1979 Division Final: Game 3 (Canadiens/Maple Leafs) -g *CBC
-Although a short series, it was still fun and was (as of this writing) the last time they met in the playoffs. Habs win the game in double-overtime.
1980 Division Semifinal: Game 2 (Islanders/Bruins) -g *WSBK
-Islanders take 2-0 series lead on OT win at the Garden. First period ends with bench-clearing brawl.
1980 Stanley Cup Final: Game 6 (Flyers/Islanders) -g *ABC
-Bobby Nystrom scores in OT to clinch the first Stanley Cup in Islanders history.

-Classic game. Oilers take a 5-0 lead into the 3rd period, only to blow it. Darryl Evans score in OT to eventually win it for the Kings. Great call from the Kings announcers.
1984 Adams Division Final: Game 6 (Nordiques/Canadiens) -g *CBC
-The Good Friday Massacre. Major bad blood as we get not one, but two bench clearing brawls between the 2nd and 3rd periods. Habs come back in the 3rd to eliminate the Nords. Steve Penney in goal for Montreal.
