| Simon was my first purebred Aussie, my first obedience dog, my first agility dog, and my first flyball dog. I believe he was the first Aussie to earn 3 Utility Dog titles and was the first Aussie to earn the AKC CDX and UD titles (and OTCH points).� He earned multiple High In Trial awards at UKC and ASCA obedience trials and won multiple High Scoring Aussie awards at AKC obedience trials. He was High Combined all three days at the '91 ASCA Nationals. Si was nationally ranked in both ASCA and AKC obedience every year of his 6 year obedience career, including ASCA #1 Utility dog/#2 Super Dog in '91, #1 Aussie in both Delaney and Shuman systems in '92, and #1 Aussie Shuman system in '93. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He then went on to enjoy agility and flyball where he made the USASA agility rankings at the age of 9. His final agility appearance was November 1997 where he earned his NADAC Novice-Veterans titles in a single weekend at 11 years of age. At 12 in November of 1998 he ran one final time in flyball in an unofficial pairs competition and had a ball (pun intended)! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Four weeks after being diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, he unexpectedly suffered a stroke. It was clear he would not recover so his friend Dr Bill showed Si the way to the Bridge as he rested his head on my arm. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Simon lived a full life, accomplished more than many dogs can hope to, and taught me almost all I know about dogs. Because of him, I was able to travel to places I'd otherwise have never had reason to go to - Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Maine, Texas, Michigan, and Ontario.� He leaves behind many two and four-legged friends that will miss him, but none more than me. Even if he had never set foot in any ring, I'd still have loved him dearly for his fun personality and zest for life (and passion for cherry tomatoes!). He was far from perfect but I wouldn't have had him any other way. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Flyball was Simon's favorite sport I think.� He enjoyed being able to bark and carry on and felt he was "in control".� Since Si didn't start playing flyball until he was 8, he was never terribly fast, I think his best time was a 5.4, but he was consistent and reliable which is just as important. Here he is performing in a demo at the Oatlands Open Sheep Dog Trial in Virginia. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| How he came away from this without injury is beyond me! I didn't know their muzzles were so flexible :)! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
