"The presentation of the Baggy Green happened out on the ground before play began. To be honest, I can't remember who gave me the cap because I was in my own world. The team stood around, but all I could see was this Baggy Green in a man's hands. There was a little speech and, although I was listening, nearly all my attention was on the cap. I just wanted to get it. 'Give it to me please. Give it to me.' Then the man reached for my hands, shaking one and putting the cap in the other. I felt my heart racing. All I could do was look down at the cap and feel it in my hands. Then Pidgey tapped me on the shoulder and said: 'Great stuff, Binga.' All the guys came up and wished my luck. When I saw Tugga, I asked if I could put the cap on. He nodded: 'Put it on, mate. You've earnt it.'
So I put it on and the crowd cheered, which gave me goosebumps. Dennis Lillee had told me earlier that my debut Test would be the greatest moment of my life. It was a moment I'll hold on to forever.
That night I didn't want to leave my Baggy Green in the dressing room, so I took it home with me. All I wanted to do was sleep with it on my head, but then I thought, 'No you idiot, you'll crush it, and can't do that!' So I put it beside my bed."
