| This is called Baiterek, and this monument is quickly becoming the icon of Kazakhstan. it figures prominently on the new currency, which will be issued soon. The mall is sort of shaped like the U.S. Mall in Washington, D.C. Baiterek is in the center. The Presidential Palace is behind, and other government buldings are on the right and left. (see looking the opposite direction at the bottom of the page) |

| Here are some of Astana's new superapartments. As you can see, they rise pretty much out of nothingness. This building rather reminded us of Gotham City somehow. | ||||||||||||||||||||
