To the Editor;
A Simi Valley police officer was one of the lucky ones out of 650 applications for a Simi Valley, California, first time home buyers loan. "Housing aid helps officer get home","Star Simi Valley", (Thursday, May 30, 2002), Ventura county considers you poor below $50,250 a year. Median at $50,250-$94,800. They are giving out silent loans to people in these categories. $30,000, no interest ever, paid back at time of resale, transfer or refinancing. Plus the lower income ones can get another $10,00 completely forgivable
loan from H.O.M.E. The City of Simi Valley will give someone $30,000 for a home, that would be not paid back literally for a life time, if the owner wanted.
I am being fined $100 a day because I cannot afford a new roof on my house, even though it does not leak, no patches, no holes, no buckles, dry rot or vermin. A neighbor complained. I have earned far below the federal poverty level of $17,00 for 13 years. I am therefore guilty, and deserve criminal penalties. I borrowed student loans to educate myself. The city does not offer me a silent loan. I was instructed I must take a loan, put a lien on my equity which collects interest in the normal manner, to replace a roof, that I do not need replaced. I must "match" neighbors, who have harassed me every chance possible. I put every penny I had in my home to buy it. I use almost the total of my income on my house payment every month. I am going to lose my house no matter what I do? Why is there something inherently wrong going on here?
