Creatures of the Night

Horns and beaks and claws of night
come beating on my door
scratching, scratching
Come out
come out and play
We are here
You be with us

Wisps of death lash out in the wind
scraping nails along the boards
tap, tap, tapping on my window
whispering in my ear
Come out and play
We are waiting for you
We are here

Gales and gust, blood and guts
splattering, dripping
creatures of the night
They know my name
They found me here
I cannot hide
Footsteps in the night

Hot breath, rancid of graves
musty, rotten with roses
softened with moss
Footsteps coming in the night
I hear them
I hear them now
Slithering, trails of slime
dripping from place to place

Beasts at the door
clawing, rampaging, pounding
Oh God, forgive me
protect me
I believe, I do, I really do
Creaks of rusted hinges
Are they within
Are they near

Dawn slides across the sky
Silver trails on the stones
silver paths far beyond
disappear in the sunlight
dreams go back
back into black
Sunshine fills my room
Another day is in bloom
I sigh, I am still here
Till my next night
and the madness begins again

Night creature's backside (the other side of the above picture)
Tears of a Mermaid
Iron bars upon my Soul
