Naming skins - What it all means.

When you look at a skin file you will realise that the names look very complicated, but here is a little bit of information to help you out.
We're going to use maxis skin
B003FAFitdrk_ave. This skin is for a female adult.
B003 represents the mesh. B stands for body, and the numbers 003 are the mesh number, which in this case is for a pair of pants.
FA stands for Female Adult, and Fit stands for the body shape which can be either skinny, fit or fat.
Drk is the skin tone which can be either dark, light or medium.
Ave is the name you give your skin. (e.g pinktop, denimjacket etc)

Different People

FA - Female Adult
MA - Male Adult
FCChd - Female Child
MCChd - Male Child

Body Shapes
Skn - Skinny
Fit - Fit
Fat - Fat

Skin Tones
Drk - Dark
Lgt - Light
Med - Medium

Head skins
We'll use maxis skin
C001FAlgt_marian.
Skins for heads use basically the same system as skins for bodies.
C (I think) stands for cranium. FA is for Female Adult, and Lgt is for the skin tone. With heads you don't need to worry about the bosy shape - fit, fat or skinny.
Marian is the name of the skin.

Well I hope this helps you out a bit when you try to work out how to name your skins! If you have any problems please e-mail me at
