Maid

To employ a maid, simply call them on your telephone. They will arrive at your house at 10am every morning and clean the bathroom, clean up messes, make beds, wash dishes and spray cockroaches. They will leave at 5pm, or when there's nothing left to clean. A maid will change you §10 per hour for a maximum of §70 per day. If you don't have enough money to pay the maid at the end of the day, she will take one of your possessions, and you will not be allowed to hire another maid for 5 Sim-days. If you don't think that your maid is doing a good enough job, you can click on her for the opportunity to fire her.

Police

If a burglar is heading toward your house you can call the SimCity police from your telephone and someone will be over straight away. Similarly, if a burglar tries to enter your home and a burglar alarm is set up, the police will automatically appear to catch him.

The policewoman may also make an appearance if you are brewing potions on the Chemistry Set during the day, warning you that the children can smell the fumes from school. She will also show up if your Sims insist on partying into the early hours of the morning. Monetary fines are associated with each.

Gardener

The Gardener will visit your house every 3 Sim-days and water your indoor and outdoor plants charging §10 per hour. Ensure that all plants can be reached or they will not be able to be watered and will die. Like the maid she will only work for a certain number of hours before she leaves, job finished or not.

Pizza Delivery Boy

Call for pizza on the telephone and the Pizza Delivery Boy will show up at your front door after between 20 and 60 minutes of game time. The pizza will cost you §40. As with other guests, if you leave him waiting too long after he rings the doorbell, he will just leave and there'll be no pizza for your Sims.

Mail Carrier

Every 3 days the Mail Carrier will bring you some household bills. The more extravagant your house, the most expensive they will be. Bills will stack up in the letter box if you don't retrieve and pay them which could bring on the Repo-man to take away your possessions. You will be warned when you are behind on bill payments.

Papergirl

Every day a newspaper will be delivered to your front lawn provided you don't already have several rotten papers still sitting there. There is a job opportunity in every paper, plus Sims can get some enjoyment reading it.

Repo-Man

If you have a couple of red bills lying around (or stacked up in your letterbox), you'll receive a warning that if you don't pay them very soon, the repo-man will come to take away your stuff. Refuse to heed this warning and after a few days, he will appear with some kind of space-age gun to zap away your possessions.

Repairman

Call the repairman on the telephone and he will come over to fix all broken items and replace any broken light bulbs. At §50 per hour this is quite an expensive service. I once had my Sim turn into a monster with the Chemistry Set and he broke 2 kitchen sinks, 2 bathroom sinks, 2 computers, 2 TVs and a hot tub which cost §650 for the repairman to fix. I have also caught the repairman sitting on the couch watching TV instead of working. It is probably better to get at least one of your Sims some Mechanical points and have them fix any broken items. They will do the same job as the repairman.

Firefighter

If a fire breaks out in your home, you can call the SimCity Firefighters and they'll get to your house as fast as they can. If you have a fire alarm in the same room as the fire, the firefighter will be called immediately without you having to use the phone. Once the firefighters are on their way, just keep your Sims out of the way of the fire.

If you call the firefighters when there is no fire, you will receive a fine. Shame on you.

Tragic Clown

The Tragic Clown will appear if all your Sims are miserable, and you have the Clown painting on a wall someplace. He will try to cheer up your Sims but he does a terrible job. I find him more annoying than useful as he simply will not let my Sims sleep, and you can't force him to leave. The clown will only leave when all of your Sims are happy again.

Social Worker

If you're not taking good enough care of your baby, i.e. letting it cry continuously, the social worker will visit your house and take it away to a better home. You will receive a warning before the baby is taken away, however.

Burglar

A burglar will show up at your house without warning at any time that all the Sims in your house are asleep. Once you are warned he's on your property, you will not be able to go into Build or Buy modes so you better hope you have a burglar alarm. He will steal the most expensive things in your house, until the police catch him. If you don't have a burglar alarm, get one of your Sims on the phone to the police asap and use the other to block any doors so he can't leave. If the police catch the burglar, you will be reimbursed for what he stole.

Party Entertainers

You can really spice up your party with a couple of entertainers. Buy a Fancy Feet Treat cake from the miscellaneous section, and get one of your Sims to choose either "Hire Male Entertainer" or "Hire Female Entertainer" by clicking on the cake. The people at your party will crowd around and clap as the entertainer dances quite provocatively. Once the dance is over, the entertainer will "mingle" with your guests in the form of kissing, flirting with, and giving their cards to guests of the opposite sex. Be aware though that this will send jealousy soaring. You can send an entertainer home by clicking on them and choosing "Dismiss".

Caterers

You can hire a caterer for §350 by calling them on the telephone (services). They will arrive shortly afterwards and fill your buffet table and punchbowl. They will stick around for the length of your party, refilling the buffet and punchbowl as your guests deplete them as well as cleaning up any dishes. The caterer will also socialise with your guests, but just make sure he doesn't spend too much time with them. Click on him and choose "back to work" to get him started again. Once your party has finished, he will clean up and leave.

Mime

The Mime will visit your party if the guests aren't having a good time. He will attempt to socialise with them and cheer them up. He doesn't seem to have any bad effect on your party besides looking stupid and embarrassing your Sims beyond repair.
