This is the story of Phillipa Skank.
She is a 20 year old female, living at 3 Sim Lane with her husband
Ted. They live in a small, tacky house decked out in all red and
dark purple furniture and wallpaper. Ted does not let Phillipa work.
Instead she is forced to stay home to take care of their four
children. She does not mind this that much, it gives her a chance to
invite her "male friends" over while the kids are at
school and Ted is at work. Ted is currently working as a General in
the army which means long hours, and a huge amount of cash at the
end of the day. Sometimes Phillipa wonders if that's the only reason
she stays with him; the money. She
spends most of her time throwing huge, lavish parties for everyone
in the neighbourhood and she is well known for flirting with every
guy at the party (married or not). She is always careful to dismiss
the guests and remove all evidence of the party before her husband
returns home. Ted is a very jealous person, he often wonders where
all his money goes since the only things he buys are tiny,
barely-there clothes for Phillipa,
and food. She is not allowed to buy treats for herself, or her
children. Ted
and Phillipa have two boys and two girls, and Phillipa is currently
pregnant with their fifth child. They have small army-style beds set
in a room away from the main part of the house which contains a
kitchen, a bathroom, a lounge room, a study and the main bedroom.
During the short times Ted is home, he and Phillipa can often be
found playing in the Love Bed, which explains their large family.
Aside from that he and Phillipa have very little to do with one
another, they play in the Love Bed every morning before he goes to
work, and every evening before he goes to sleep. Ted also expects
Phillipa to get up at least 2 hours before him to clean up the
house, cook breakfast, and make sure she is fresh and neat before he
arises. Their children are
always miserable, the four of them have to share one bathroom, and
they are rarely allowed into the main part of the house. The study
and their parents bedroom are strictly off limits and one has to
wonder what strange things Ted and Phillipa are hiding in there. The
children are not allowed toys, the only joy they get are from
reading books, and the easel that Ted bought them so they could sell
their paintings and earn their keep. They often do poorly at school
because they are so miserable at home, and if their grades slip, Ted
punishes Phillipa and locks the children in a tiny, dark room right
at the back of the block where they have no access to food, no
bathroom, no bed, and nothing to cheer them up. On
one particular Tuesday, Phillipa had a call from her doctor about
her pregnancy. Apparently there had been a shocking difference
between this pregnancy and the other four. The doctor asked that Phillipa
make an appointment to see him immediately. She didn't say anything
to Ted, the extra expense of the appointment would make him angry
and he simply wouldn't tolerate any problems that she caused,
whether it was her fault or not. Ted expected her to be a perfect,
model wife. No, she simply couldn't tell him. She made an
appointment for the following Monday. It
turned out that her growing baby's regular check-up, which nowadays
included a blood test once the baby got to be eight months old, had
shown that this baby had a completely different blood type, one that
meant that there was no way Ted could be the father. "Do you
know who the father is?" the doctor asked. Phillipa shook her
head, there was no telling who it could have been, why she threw
parties nearly every day and who knows how many guys... "Your
husband will have to know," the doctor said, "Would you
like to tell him, or shall I?" Phillipa felt sick to her
stomach. "I will tell him." Phillipa
walked home in a daze, one hand on her huge belly. 38 weeks pregnant
and still Ted made her walk everywhere. Ted would be absolutely
furious when she told him, he'd throw furniture, smash plates and
vases, destroy the entire house. There was no way she could tell him
that she was pregnant with another man's baby. She decided to leave,
sure she would have no money, but it was going to be better than
dealing with his wrath. She arrived home, packed up what clothes she
could fit into Ted's suitcase and dragged it out to the sidewalk.
She phoned the school and asked that her two eldest children be sent
home immediately. She walked out to the children's bedroom and
roused her two year old from her bed. Then she stole the key to the
tiny room at the back of the lot from Ted's study, and let out her
three year old son. Once
her children were ready and waiting she collected all the money she
could find in the house and called for a taxi. As they piled in she
took one last look at the house, it's crumbling bricks, the
half-dead garden with it's yellowing flamingoes. One would never
guess that the inside was immaculate and looked like the set of a
porn movie. That was the only thing Ted spent money on, his stupid
tacky red furniture and Phillipa's skanky clothes. She wasn't going
to miss it at all.
