Building Skills
SIMformation Home > Information > Building skills
The skills your Sim can gain are: Charisma, Mechanical, Logic, Cooking, Body and Creativity. Different combinations of all these skills are required for your Sim to get promoted to a better job. Read on for information on how to learn these various skills, and their relativity to home-life (if any).

Charisma

+ Practicing speech in front of any mirror

At Home: Nothing obvious.

Mechanical

+ Studying a book from a bookcase, + Making gnomes with the Work Bench (Best Choice: Making gnomes if you have Livin' Large as you can sell the gnomes you make.)

At Home: The more mechanical points your Sim has, the faster he/she will be able to fix a household appliance or change a light bulb and the less likely they are to electrocute themselves in the process. Also, a Sim who makes gnomes will make more money for selling each one (max §100)

Logic

+ Playing chess, + Making potions with the chemistry set. (Best choice: Chemistry Set if you have Livin' Large as you can make interesting potions at the same time.)

At Home: Sims seem to make the more interesting potions with the Chemistry Set when they have more logic points.

Cooking

+ Studying a book from a bookcase

At Home: The more cooking points your Sim has, the more satisfying his/her meals are, and the less likely he/she will start a fire when using the stove, barbecue or microwave. None of my Sims with 3 or more cooking points have ever started a fire.

Body

+ Working out on the bench press, + Swimming (Best choice: Bench Press as it seems to be faster than swimming, and you can track your Sim's progress.)

At Home: Nothing obvious.

Creativity

+ Painting on the easel, + Playing the piano, + Playing the guitar (Best choice: Painting as you can sell the finished paintings for up to §166)

At Home: The more creativity points your Sim has, the more you can sell his/her finished paintings for. A Sim with more creativity points who is playing the piano or guitar is more likely to be cheered than boo-ed.
