- Why doesn't the object show up in the catalog?
- How do I put music in the game so that it plays at
the start of the game?
- How do I put music files in the game?
- How many objects, floors, skins, walls, roofs,
windows, stairs, etc. can I add to my game?
- What will happen if I go over the object limits for
my game?
- I want to add a garage with a car parked in
it. How would I go about this and where would I
get the car?
- I have downloaded and placed a car in my garage and
it keeps honking its horn and waking my Sims.
How can I get the horn to stop honking?
- I have over 1,000 objects in my game not including
skins, walls, floors, windows or roofs. (Current
load time is about 15 minutes running on Windows XP,
PIII 933mhz, 448 Ram, 80Gb HD.) My game runs
slow and it seems that the more objects I add the
slower it runs. Is there a way for me to keep my
objects and have the game run faster?
- What is a FAR file and what is its purpose in the
game?
- I have been downloading objects for a while and have
noticed some additional files being placed into the
Zip folder along with the .iff object file named,
".sif and .sig" What are these ".sif
and .sig" files and what am I supposed to do with
them?
- I am not too familiar with where the objects go into
the game, so sometimes they do not show up, even
though I thought I had placed them into the
game. Is there a program that will install these
files for me and where can I get that program?
The original version of The
Sims limited you to 99 objects, walls and floors.
With the Livin' Large and House Party expansion packs your limit on these
items are 65,000 each with the exception of the stairs and
plants. When the download limited is exceed on
windows and plants (which are in build mode), your
staircase may appear as window, etc. The way to fix
this is to put some of your build mode items into buy
mode. If you are not familiar with how this is down,
try using EliSims
or The Sims Transmogrifier
program to do this.
The new object needs to have an
unique identification number ("ID"), otherwise it will not show up in the
catalog. Other problems can also occur if your
object does not have a unique ID since objects with the
same conflicting ID can cause your game to
crash. A program, posted on Simgoddess'
site, can check for conflicting IDs. It is called
"Object ID." This program will help you
locate any duplicate or conflicting IDs in your game.
