Fiano di Avellino
- White wine with a bouquet of pears and toasted hazelnuts, made from a grape grown by the
ancient Romans.
Lacryma Cristy del Vesuvio
- There are countless different version of this named wine, but only the red white and
rose ' of Vesuvio have a DOC.
Taurasi - A big red which comes from the hills near Avellino which a lot
of people rate as highly as Barolo.

Favonio - Drink youngish.
Torre Quarto - Long maturing red,from the Malbec and Uva
di Troia grapes.

Agnalico del
Vulture - Sold young, fizzy and sweet this is simply another Lambrusco
lookalike.
Very strong(15% alcohol).

Ciro'di Calabria
- A deep red mainly from Gaglioppo grapes grown in Ciro'.

Malvasia delle
Lipari - The Malvasia is made in Passito and liquoroso styles, sweet dessert wine
which is regarded as one of the best in Italy.
Vino da Tavola - Sicily is now producing a growing
number of excellent table wines. Red table wines suggested are Regaleali or Rosso del
Conte (needs five years).
Marsala - Is fermented in great vats (you can smell it a soon as you
approach the town) on the West coast of the island. Bottles stamped vergine are the best.
Corvo Red - Best at three to four years old, mixes the
flavours of ripe red fruits with the southern twang of leather, meat, stewed fruit and
mineral.

Vermentino
di Sardegna - Don't examine this wine too long. It is ideal for quaffing
back without a care, being mouth watering fresh and lowish in alcohol.
Vernaccia di Oristano - Sardinia's answer to sherry,
made from overripe vernaccia grapes, and matured in a kind of solera for two years.
Unfortified, it is around 15% alcohol and needs at least five years before it is ready to
drink.
