Ruled By Fate
Here I stand
at the edge of a cliff
blindly guessing
where to put my foot
wrong guess and it all falls apart
right guess and I might be pushed off
between the edge of a blade
and the flames of hell
with an arrow pointed at my heart
I must dodge the strike of the blade
and the impact of the arrow
while avoiding damnation
I'm not the fool
I see the trap
perhaps I'll dodge the trap
only to fall to the axeman
maybe my fate has already been decided
to live in sorrow
to watch everything shatter
maybe there is no point to resist
maybe I should give up and give in
I turn to quit
and slam into a wall
part of me won't let go
instead I face the fall
with full knowledge
ignorence is bliss
this is hell
I run into the blade
no way to fall upon it
the possibility of the end
so clear
so easy to attain
beyond my control
my fate lies in the hands of others
I plead for mercy
as my time of judgement nears
hoping I'm heard
and that my cries
do not fall on deaf ears
