Mask of Deception
And I saw my world beneath me...
Blackened with dignified sorrow
and chilled with apathy's baneful breath
yet as my sight fled from my eyes
and my senses themselves drawn out
my awareness deepened
Cast into the reality I found myself I died
the soul leaving a waking husk
left alive as I ever could be in sleeping moments
but with perfection does my actions lie
tone and movement adapting perfectly
hiding desperate stillness within
leaving a reflection unchanged upon the surface
Though my body moves amongst a fictional world of warmth
none of it transforms my winter world
and so it shall hold
since only reality is embraced here
warmth being found only in illusion
which is ever-fleeting, ever-changing
and never-lasting
