SegaSonic the Hedgehog
Information

Background: SegaSonic the Hedgehog is a rare arcade game. There have been sightings of the game in the United States, so it is possible to play the game today. The arcade game came out in 1993.

Story: Eggman has captured Sonic, Ray, and Mighty. The three must escape the island, avoiding traps along the way.

Levels: The levels are as follows:

Volcanic Vault
Icy Isle
Desert Dodge
Trap Tower
Landslide Limbo
Wild Water Way
Eggman's Tower

Chaos Emeralds: There are no Chaos Emeralds in this game.

Miscellaneous: There are two new characters that join Sonic on his quest: Ray and Mighty. Ray is a flying squirrel, while Mighty is an armadillo. Although Ray has never made an appearance in a Sonic game since this arcade game, Mighty can be seen in Knuckles' Chaotix.

A trackball is used to control the players. (This is used instead of a traditional joystick.)

There is a demo version that has been emulated. However, not all stages can be played and it differs from the final arcade version.

Yuji Naka has mentioned that the arcade game was considered to be added to Sonic Gems Collection. The reason the game was not included was because of the trackball, which could not be mimicked on a game controller.
